Little is known about lone atrial fibrillation (AF) in pediatrics and its risk factors due to low prevalence. We sought to determine risk factors and estimate recurrence rates in children with lone AF using a large clinical database. Using the Explorys clinical database, we retrospectively identified patients who were below 20 years of age at the time of their AF diagnosis. In a patient with Fontan palliation and persistent atrial fibrillation two triggers were identified that initiated atrial fibrillation (AF) from the superior vena cava (SVC) and the right atrium. SVC triggers are more common in patients with a normal-sized left atrium.
