Hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination rates for incarcerated adults remain low despite their high risk for infection. This study determined predictors of vaccine completion in homeless adults (N= 297) who reported histories of incarceration and who participated in one of three nurse-led hepatitis programs of different intensity. Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant condition caused by a germline mutation in the folliculin gene, which is characterized by skin fibrofolliculomas, multiple lung cysts and renal cancer. The clinical expression of the syndrome is highly variable, with recurrent pneumothoraces due to ruptured lung cysts in many cases. We report a patient with pneumomediastinum and cervico-facial emphysema after severe coughing without pneumothorax, skin lesions or renal tumour, but a striking family history of lung abnormalities.

Recurrent HCV is universal after liver transplantation in patients viremic at the time of transplantation and leads to cirrhosis in up to 30% of patients by five years. This results in various changes in the femoral epiphysis and metaphysis, the capital femoral epiphysis, growth plate, and the acetabulum. The necrotic bone of the epiphysis is gradually replaced by new bone, and over 2 to 4 years complete healing of the epiphysis occurs. The aim of this study was to determine the natural history of Mallory-Weiss tear (MWT) in African American and Hispanic patients. We retrospectively reviewed medical records of all patients with acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding over a 10-year period.
