Intracardiac cement embolism (ICE) is a rare complication of vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. We present an unusual case of ICE in a 54-year-old woman following spinal surgery for osteodystrophy and osteomyelitis. Postoperative imaging revealed cement migration to the right atrium. Anticoagulation was initiated but discontinued due to bleeding. With no clear guidelines and high surgical risk, conservative management was pursued. This case highlights the importance of early recognition and the complexities of managing ICE in high-risk patients.

Aerococcus urinae is an alpha-hemolytic gram-positive catalase-negative coccus that typically causes urinary tract infections. It has been rarely implicated in other invasive infections such as endocarditis, bacteremia, peritonitis, meningitis, and vertebral osteomyelitis. There are approximately 50 reported cases of A. urinae infective endocarditis in literature. We present a rare case of a 64-year-old male who was found to have a urinary tract infection, bacteremia, and endocarditis caused by A. urinae.

This is a case describing a 13-year-old female student having a history of a fall-developed wound over the anterior aspect of the right leg with discharging sinus treated as chronic osteomyelitis and operated and distal tibia corticotomy and Ilizarov fixation was done. The patient was full of complications, but full limb lengthening was restored with follow-up. The Ilizarov frame's proper installation and the middle segment's efficient transportation are essential variables in reducing the likelihood of the transported segment deviating.

MR is often the most definitive imaging for assessment of musculoskeletal trauma and infection. Although it is not possible to address all the intricacies of these complex topics in a single article, this review will attempt to provide a useful toolbox of skills by discussing several common clinical scenarios faced by emergency radiologists in interpretation of adult trauma and infection. These scenarios include MR assessment of hip and pelvic fracture, traumatic soft tissue injuries, septic arthritis, soft tissue infection, and osteomyelitis.

Staphylococcus aureus bone infections remain a therapeutic challenge, leading to long and expensive hospitalizations. Systemic antibiotic treatments are inconsistently effective, due to insufficient penetration into the infectious site. In an osteomyelitis model, the single local administration of nanoparticle-encapsulated daptomycin allows sterilization of the infectious sites after 4 and 14 days of treatment, while daily systemic daptomycin treatment for 4 days was not effective. These results demonstrate the great potential of this local antibiotic treatment.

We report the case of an 82-year-old patient with an infected abdominal aortic endograft who presented with a right psoas abscess and lumbar osteomyelitis. The psoas abscess was drained percutaneously. Fluid obtained grew Fusobacterium nucleatum. The patient, an active and highly functional individual, wished to pursue definitive management. The infected endograft was surgically removed, and the aorta was ligated above the renal arteries after staged axillary-bifemoral, hepatorenal, and splenorenal bypasses.

This case history report describes the long-term prosthodontic treatment of a patient with gnathodiaphyseal dysplasia (GDD). The patient was initially diagnosed with osteomyelitis in the maxilla in 1986, followed by osteonecrosis spread throughout the mandible. GDD was genetically diagnosed in 2006. Despite the severe alveolar bone resorption, prosthodontic treatment improved the patient's satisfaction and ability to perform essential functions. Regular prosthesis adjustments and periodic follow-up should continue to avoid future complications.

Bacterial orbital cellulitis is a life-threatening infection of the postseptal orbital tissue. It can occur in the context of sinusitis, particularly in children and adolescents. Ocular complications include exposure keratopathy, increased intraocular pressure, occlusion of the central retinal artery or vein and optic neuropathy. Rarely, a subperiosteal abscess can occur, and osteomyelitis can lead to spread of the infection to the cerebrum. A rapid diagnosis and targeted therapy are essential for saving the eye as well as the life of the patient.

Pilonidal sinus is a chronic inflammatory disease commonly observed in the sacrococcygeal region. The authors report a patient of a pilonidal sinus in a rare location-the lateral orbital region. The authors' patient was misdiagnosed with an epidermal cyst, and the subsequent incomplete excision of the sinus tract led a pilonidal sinus with a high morbidity resulting in the destruction of bone tissue in the lateral orbital wall. It was, therefore, crucial to accurately diagnose and treat before the infection progressed through the bone and caused osteomyelitis.

Metastasis of the lung adenocarcinoma to the paranasal sinuses is a rare clinical entity. We present a 75-year-old male patient who presented with swelling of the forehead and left upper eyelid with proptosis in left eye due to metastasis from lung adenocarcinoma. It appears as a puffy swelling of the forehead like a Pott's puffy tumor. Pott's puffy tumor is a subperiostal abscess of the frontal bone associated with osteomyelitis and usually occurs as a complication of sinusitis or trauma.

We report the 9-year clinical, radiographic and histological outcome of autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) used to treat massive cartilage lesions of the medial femoral condyle and patella in an adolescent patient after osteomyelitis and subsequent septic arthritis of the knee. This is the first reported case of ACI performed in the knee for significant chondral lesions secondary to infective changes. Long-term clinical success was achieved using this method, which was outside the usual indications for ACI.

A 62-year-old woman presented with left frontotemporal pain, scalp tenderness and raised levels of inflammatory markers. Temporal arteritis was considered likely, and symptoms resolved with prednisone therapy. This delayed diagnostic bone biopsy until a soft tissue abscess formed, and Pott's puffy tumour associated with Prevotella osteomyelitis of the frontal bone was diagnosed. This case highlights the value of early histopathological examination, and is a reminder of a condition seen frequently in the pre-antibiotic era.

Tuberculosis psoas muscle abscess is currently an uncommon clinical entity in industrialized countries. It was considered the predominant cause of these abscesses in the early part of the 20th century as a result of complicated Potts disease. We describe the case of a psoas abscess caused by the combination of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Staphylococcus aureus. In this patient, the abscess was not associated with Potts disease but with osteomyelitis of the iliac crest, in which the evaluation with magnetic resonance imaging was very specific in determining the extent and regional spread.

Vancomycin is often administered empirically to patients with osteomyelitis, septic arthritis, septic throbophlebitis, infected burns, and cellulitis of the lower extremities when methicillin-resistant staphylococci are suspected, or when a staphylococcus organism is suspected in a penicillin-allergic patient. Physicians must be aware of the guidelines established regarding the use of Vancomycin to avoid bacterial resistance. Physicians also must be aware of the procedures that have been developed to help contain nasocomial outbreaks of Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci.
