A repository of protein abundance data of drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters for applications in physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling and simulation.

Population factors such as age, gender, ethnicity, genotype and disease state can cause inter-individual variability in pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of drugs. Primarily, this variability arises from differences in abundance of drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters (DMET) among individuals and/or groups. Hence, availability of compiled data on abundance of DMET proteins in different populations can be useful for developing physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models. The latter are routinely employed for prediction of PK profiles and drug interactions during drug development and in

Herpes Zoster Incidence in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients: A Population-Based Study.

BACKGROUND: The aberrant immune response in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and immunosuppression may intrinsically predispose patients to infectious complications, such as herpes zoster (HZ). We quantified the incidence of HZ in IBD patients in the province of Quebec, Canada. METHODS: We performed a descriptive study using the provincial "Regie de l'Assurance Maladie du Québec" (RAMQ) health registry from 1996 to 2015. The study population consisted of all subjects in the source population who fulfilled the CD and UC case-defining criteria. HZ incidence rates (IRs) in person-years (py) were

Population structure of the malaria vector Anopheles sinensis (Diptera: Culicidae) in China: two gene pools inferred by microsatellites.

BACKGROUND: Anopheles sinensis is a competent malaria vector in China. An understanding of vector population structure is important to the vector-based malaria control programs. However, there is no adequate data of A. sinensis population genetics available yet. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: This study used 5 microsatellite loci to estimate population genetic diversity, genetic differentiation and demographic history of A. sinensis from 14 representative localities in China. All 5 microsatellite loci were highly polymorphic across populations, with high allelic richness and heterozygosity.

The NOS1AP gene rs10494366 common genetic variant does not modify the risk of sudden cardiac death in users of digoxin.

AIMS: Common genetic variations in the nitric oxide synthase-1 adaptor protein (NOS1AP) gene are associated with QT-interval prolongation. In a previous study, we observed an association between the rs10494366 variant of this gene and an increased QT-interval shortening in digoxin users. As QT-interval shortening is a risk factor for sudden cardiac death (SCD), in this study, we investigated whether the association between digoxin use and risk of SCD differs in participants with different NOS1AP rs10494366 genotypes. METHODS: We included 11 377 individuals from the prospective population-base

Interactive psychoeducational group therapy in the treatment of authority problems in combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder.

The use of Interactive Psychoeducational Group Therapy to ameliorate authority problems of veterans with combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder is described. Despite the common occurrence of authority problems in this population, and the degree of damage they have caused in family, work, and legal domains, they are rarely specifically targeted by treatment interventions. A conceptual framework linking psychological trauma with distortions in authority relations is presented, followed by the format, procedures, and case examples of this form of group therapy. By uncovering the distorted b

Paw preference in mice with callosal defects induced by prenatal gamma irradiation.

The development of the corpus callosum of male Swiss mice was perturbed by exposure to gamma radiation at embryonic day 16 with total doses of 2 Gy (N = 48) or 3 Gy (N = 26). At adulthood paw preference was studied in these callosal defective animals and in 93 control nonirradiated male Swiss mice. The analysis of directional laterality indicated a populational tendency for right paw use in the 2 Gy group (60%) that was markedly increased in the 3 Gy group (95%). In the 3 Gy group, directional laterality was significantly different from chance in contrast to that observed in normal controls (4
