Paediatric cardiac transplantation (pHTX) has gained widespread acceptance as a therapy in end-stage myocardial failure and some forms of congenital heart disease, particularly hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). The major problems to the anaesthesiologist in these patients are induction of anaesthesia in infants with HLHS and treatment of pulmonary hypertension in the early post-bypass period. Of 7992 sheep examined, 2088 (26.12%), 2266 (28.36%), 15 (0.19%) and 738 (9.8%) were infected with Echinococcus granulosus, Taenia hydatigena, Taenia ovis and Taenia multiceps metacestodes, respectively. To clarify the clinical significance of the status of surgical margins, especially the dissected margin in the transverse direction, a clinicopathologic study was performed on 60 patients with carcinoma of the bile duct who underwent radical resection. Immunohistochemical expression of PRAD1/cyclin D1 protein has been investigated in 106 tissue specimens of 104 cases of lymphoma, non-neoplastic lymphoid disorders and other hematologic malignancies by employing the monoclonal antibody 5D4 with formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, using the microwave oven heating method. Retrospective analysis of 33 patients with juvenile dermato/polymyositis showed 45% complete recovery, 26% remission (steroid dependent), 6% wheelchair-dependency, 3% deaths and 10% development of other connective tissue diseases after a mean follow up of 4 years. We report our experience with 25 living-donor and 427 cadaveric-donor kidneys followed for over 6 years. Patient survival exceeds 90% at 5 years for all recipients. Overall one-year and 5-year graft survival rates were 82.7% and 65.5%, respectively. Approximately one-third of CAD were of extreme age (eg, < or = 10 and > or = 60 years old).
