Spatio-Temporal distribution of percentage change in Couple Years of Protection by district in Punjab province - Results from Pakistan Contraceptive Performance Reports 2014-15 to 2018-19.

An MDHAQ/RAPID3 (multidimensional health assessment questionnaire/routine assessment of patient index data) was developed from the HAQ over 25 years, based on observations made from completion by every patient (with all diagnoses) at every routine rheumatology visit since 1980. Modification of the HAQ was viewed as similar to improving a laboratory test, with a primary focus on clinical value for diagnosis, prognosis, and/or management, as well as feasibility for minimal effect on clinical workflow. Rigorous attention, was also directed to validity, reliability, other methodologic and technolo

COPD patients hospitalized with exacerbations have greater cognitive impairment than patients hospitalized with decompensated heart failure.

PURPOSE: People with COPD have cognitive dysfunction, which is greater in those hospitalized for exacerbations than in stable outpatients. We tested the hypothesis that cognitive dysfunction at exacerbation is a disease-specific feature of COPD, rather than a nonspecific feature of hospitalization for acute illness, by comparing cognition between patients hospitalized for acute COPD exacerbations and those with worsening heart failure (HF). PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 40 hospital inpatients were recruited, 20 patients with COPD exacerbations and 20 patients with congestive or left-sided

Effects of Telehealth Interventions for People With Parkinson Disease: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

BACKGROUND: The global integration of telehealth into the management of Parkinson disease (PD) addresses critical gaps in health care access, especially for patients with limited mobility in underserved regions. Despite accelerated adoption during the COVID-19 pandemic, evidence regarding telehealth's multidimensional efficacy remains inconsistent. Previous meta-analyses reported conflicting outcomes for quality of life (QOL), motor symptoms, and neuropsychiatric comorbidities. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to quantitatively synthesize the effects of telehealth interventions across six core PD

Preoperative pain sensitivity predicts postoperative pain severity and analgesics requirement in lumbar fusion surgery - a prospective observational study.

BACKGROUND CONTENT: The goal of postoperative pain management is to facilitate the patient's return to normal activity and decrease the detrimental effects of acute postsurgical pain. In order to provide more tailored and successful pain treatment, it is necessary to identify individuals who are at a high risk of experiencing severe postoperative pain. The most precise way to assess pain sensitivity is by determining the pressure pain threshold and heat pain threshold by objective methods using a digital algometer and neurotouch respectively. PURPOSE: The primary aim of the study is to assess

Multicenter Development and Validation of the Vocal Cord Paralysis Experience (CoPE), a Patient-Reported Outcome Measure for Unilateral Vocal Fold Paralysis-Specific Disability.

IMPORTANCE: Unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP) is a common and life-changing complication of cancer, trauma, and an estimated 500 000 head, neck, and chest surgeries performed annually in the US, among other causes (eg, idiopathic). Consequent disabilities are profound and often permanent and can include severe voice, swallowing, and breathing dysfunction and concomitant anxiety, isolation, and fear. Physiological measures often correlate poorly with patient-reported disability. The measure described herein was designed to be a comprehensive, psychometrically sound UVFP-specific patient-re

The clinical and cost-effectiveness of paravertebral blockade versus thoracic epidural blockade in reducing chronic post-thoracotomy pain: TOPIC2 RCT synopsis.

BACKGROUND: More than a third of patients undergoing thoracotomy suffer from debilitating chronic post-thoracotomy pain lasting months or years postoperatively. Aggressive management of acute pain during the perioperative period may mitigate this risk. OBJECTIVE(S): To determine the clinical and cost-effectiveness of paravertebral blockade compared to thoracic epidural blockade, by testing the hypothesis that paravertebral blockade reduces the incidence of chronic post-thoracotomy pain. DESIGN AND METHODS: A parallel, open, multicentre, randomised controlled with integrated health-economic e

Circulating spexin levels in women with PCOS (PMOS): relationships with phoenixin, BMI and perceived stress.

BACKGROUND: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), for which the term polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) has recently been proposed to better reflect its complex endocrine and metabolic nature, is a common endocrine disorder associated with metabolic disturbances, including insulin resistance and obesity, chronic anovulation and impaired fertility. Its pathogenesis is complex and multifactorial, involving interrelated mechanisms such as impaired insulin action and compensatory hyperinsulinemia, neuroendocrine dysregulation, altered ovarian steroidogenesis and increased adrenal androgen

Structural alterations in the superior temporal gyrus associated with depressive symptoms in migraine without aura: a voxel-based morphometry and surface-based morphometry magnetic resonance imaging study.

BACKGROUND: Migraine without aura (MwoA) frequently co-occurs with depressive symptoms, yet the neurobiological mechanisms underlying this comorbidity remain insufficiently characterized. This study integrated voxel-based morphometry (VBM) and surface-based morphometry (SBM) to compare gray matter volume (GMV) and cortical morphology between patients with MwoA and healthy controls (HC) and to further determine whether structural brain alterations vary across MwoA subgroups stratified by depressive symptom severity, thereby identifying potential structural correlates of depressive symptoms in t
