Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a clinical syndrome characterized by the abrupt onset of a massive episodic memory deficit that spares other cognitive functions. As technological and genomic innovations continue to advance precision cancer prevention, psychosocial, ethical, and operational complexities increasingly accompany their development. Addressing these challenges will require intentional cross-disciplinary collaboration. We argue that the distinct yet complementary lenses of bioethics and implementation science will be crucial as precision cancer prevention technologies move toward clinical integration. We provide a framework for how this joint effort can be accomplished and sustained across the translational pipeline.

Delusion of pregnancy is a relatively uncommon manifestation in psychotic patients. Differentiating it from closely related clinical entities like pseudocyesis/pseudopregnancy can be a challenge in clinical setting. Gastric cancer (GC) is an aggressive malignancy with a high burden of peritoneal disease. Evidence regarding the use of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) to improve outcomes has been growing. However, given multiple limitations, there remains a lack of international consensus regarding the optimal treatment paradigm. This review article discusses the burden of peritoneal disease in GC patients and the role of CRS + HIPEC in all treatment intents-curative, prophylactic, and palliative.

Sialorrhea, uncontrolled, excessive drooling, accompanies different, mostly neurological disorders from childhood to adulthood. With incobotulinumtoxinA (Xeomin, IncoBoNT/A, Merz Pharmaceuticals GmbH), an approved medication for the treatment of sialorrhea has been available since 2019. Patient selection, possible therapy goals, treatment and the management of specific treatment situations build the focus of this interdisciplinary expert consensus recommendations with the intent to facilitate access to treatment and to contribute to qualified botulinum toxin therapy.

Decreased intraabdominal fat can lead to intraabdominal compressive syndromes, such as superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome. This phenomenon is rare but should be considered in a patient with recent rapid weight loss and acute gastrointestinal complaints. A delay in diagnosis and treatment can lead to severe complications, such as a gastric rupture. We report a case of SMA syndrome in a teenage male with recent intentional weight loss and intractable emesis, and the possible associations of SMA syndrome and Nutcracker syndrome.

Fitzpatrick skin type (FST) was developed to assess the propensity of the skin to burn during phototherapy, but it also is commonly used by providers as means of describing constitutive skin color and ethnicity. We conducted an anonymous survey of dermatologists and dermatology trainees to evaluate how providers use FST in their clinical practice. Although providers should be cognizant of conflating race/ethnicity with FST, the original intent of FST also should be emphasized in medical school and resident education.

The authors present a case of seemingly textbook digital osteomyelitis with draining ulceration. Per protocol, specimens were sent to pathology with the intent to verify and identify the offending organisms. Surprisingly, the textbook osteomyelitis returned with a pathological diagnosis of rare sweat gland tumor, malignant eccrine acropsiroma, prompting immediate systemic medical workup and treatment. This case emphasizes the importance of proper laboratory workup of all surgically removed specimens, despite having a "typical" presentation.

We have developed a size series of unusually small, water-soluble (InAs)ZnSe (core)shell quantum dots (QDs) that emit in the near-infrared and exhibit new behavior in vivo, including multiple sequential lymph node mapping and extravasation from the vasculature. The biological utility of these fluorescent probes resulted from our intentional choice to match the semiconductor material and water-soluble ligand with a desired final hydrodynamic diameter and emission wavelength.

A 73-year old healthy woman presented for pacemaker replacement. Chest X-ray showed an right upper lobe consolidation. CT-scan and bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage could not yield a specific diagnosis. Due to progression of the consolidation in a CT scan after 10 weeks another bronchoscopy with transbronchial biopsy was performed and yielded bronchiolo-alveolar carcinoma. The patient underwent resection of the right upper lobe and middle lobe with curative intent.
