Diagnostic Ultrasound Findings and Treatments in Cellists with Performance-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders: A Retrospective Study.

OBJECTIVE: Performance-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMDs) are common among orchestral musicians, with string players, including cellists, at high risk due to their unique playing posture and forceful movements. Despite frequent reports of pain, especially in the upper back, shoulders, and hands, specific tissue pathologies in cellists remain underexplored. This study investigates ultrasound findings in cellists with PRMDs and their clinical implications. METHODS: This retrospective case series study, conducted at a musician clinic in a tertiary medical center from January 2019 to Septe…

Orthostatic hypertension as a predisposing factor for masked hypertension: the J-SHIPP study.

Masked hypertension (HT) is a known risk factor for cardiovascular outcomes. Postural blood pressure (BP) dysregulation is another BP phenomenon representing cardiovascular frailty. Given their several shared risk factors, we suspected an inter-relationship between these two BP phenomena. Here we investigated a possible relationship between masked HT and postural BP dysregulation in a general population. Study subjects were 884 apparently healthy individuals (aged 66.3±8.9 years). Masked HT was assessed on the basis of the ambulatory monitored average awake BP and office-measured BP values. Or

[Gait disorders in Parkinson disease. Gait freezing and falls: therapeutic management].

GAIT ARRESTS: They affect the evolution of the disease. This freezing phenomenon which induces falls sometimes constitutes an initial sign. Like the gait initiation failure, freezing can be controlled by sensory stimulation, notably visual inputs, but also by more sustained attention. FALLS ARE MAINLY CONNECTED WITH BOTH POSTURAL INSTABILITY AND RIGIDITY: They are poorly influenced by dopaminergic therapies. The progressive decrease of step width represents a main factor in their occurrence. PRECOCITY OF GAIT DISORDERS IS UNUSUAL IN PARKINSON'S DISEASE: Other parkinsonian syndromes such as pro
