We herein report a case of chemical meningitis that developed after cervical transforaminal steroid injection. A 49-year-old man presented with symptoms of meningitis (severe headache and neck stiffness) after cervical transforaminal steroid injection at the right C5-6 level. The injection solution was a mixture of lidocaine (0.3 mL), hyaluronidase (1 mL), placenta hydrolysate (2 mL), and normal saline (1 mL). Aging and fertility are two interconnected processes. From invertebrates to mammals, absence of the germline increases longevity. Here we show that loss of function of sul-2, the Caenorhabditis elegans steroid sulfatase (STS), raises the pool of sulfated steroid hormones, increases longevity and ameliorates protein aggregation diseases. Benign, refractory upper gastrointestinal strictures can be challenging to treat. Dilation combined with intralesional steroid injection is part of treatment algorithms. This intervention is typically well-tolerated, and few complications of this technique have been reported in the literature. We report 2 patients with infectious abscesses, 1 involving the neck and 1 involving the pylorus, as a complication of steroid injection and dilation of refractory strictures.

Patients who present with multiple keratoacanthomas (KAs) associated with prurigo nodularis often pose a treatment challenge. These lesions often require aggressive treatment, such as Mohs micrographic surgery, surgical excision, electrodesiccation and curettage, intralesional steroid injection, and long-term acitretin. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) cream 5% has been shown to be effective; however, topical options are limited when 5-FU fails. We have found success using a high-potency topical steroid under occlusion, resulting in resolution of KAs and prurigo nodules.

Misuse of anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) to boost performance and appearance is rising in the United States (US) with approximately one million people experiencing dependence. Long-term AAS misuse can lead to cardiovascular pathology but rarely cardiogenic shock. We report the case of an acute ischemic stroke secondary to an intracardiac thrombus in a patient with biventricular failure and cardiogenic shock associated with AAS misuse. Discontinuation of AAS and institution of guideline-directed medical therapy might reverse AAS-related heart failure.
