We demonstrate by using whole-genome sequencing orogenital transmission of a N. meningitidis sequence type 11 isolate causing urethritis in a monogamous couple of men who have sex with men. Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a tick-borne viral disease with a high mortality rate. Infection can also occur through close contact with an infected patient. Scrub typhus is an acute febrile illness caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, a bacterium transmitted to humans through chigger mite bites. South Korea is an endemic region of SFTS and scrub typhus. In this study, we confirmed that a patient was coinfected with SFTS virus and two (Boryong and Taguchi) genotypes of O. tsutsugamushi.

The experience of treatment in the clinic of 47 patients with acute calculous cholecystitis was analysed. The removal of the gallbladder found brown pigment stones. The clinical course of the disease in such patients, ultrasound data and instrumental methods were described. The triple antibiotic therapy application helped to reduce the risk of infection of bile, the elimination of the inflammatory process.

BACKGROUND: Pulmonary involvement is a rare complication of brucellosis. We describe the largest series to date, to our knowledge, of patients with pulmonary brucellosis.
METHODS: This 10-year, retrospective, descriptive study involved 27 centers in Turkey, including all patients with brucellosis with confirmed respiratory system involvement.

Borrelia crocidurae-associated relapsing fever is endemic to West Africa and is considered benign. We report 4 patients with B. crocidurae-associated neurologic symptoms; 2 of their cases had been misdiagnosed. Frequency and severity of this disease could be underestimated; molecular methods and serodiagnostic tests for Lyme disease might be helpful in its detection.
