We report successful management of anesthesia in two cases of knee arthroscopic surgery of meniscal lesions using ultrasound-guided combined femoral-obturator nerve block with inhalation anesthesia. The blocks were performed with 30 ml of 0.5% ropivacaine under ultrasonographic visualization. The perioperative courses were uneventful and there was no complaint about postoperative pain. Unlike spinal or epidural anesthesia, combined femoral-obturator nerve block has advantages of no muscle weakness in healthy lower limbs, no urinary retention, and no post dural puncture headache. OBJECTIVE: A case of acute wheezing causing primitive thyroid lymphoma observed ay the Operative Unit of General and Thoracic Surgery of the University "P Giaccone" of Palermo, Italy, is reported.
EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: Diagnostic, clinical and prognostic indication, evaluation of effectveness of radical surgical treatment and follow-up.
INTERVENTION: Emergency radical surgical treatment (debulking) and surgical tracheostomy (tracheal infiltration).

Recent-onset noncompaction of the myocardium is a rare but serious entity with uncertain prognosis. Cerebral infarction is among the forms of presentation, and pregnancy and hypercoagulability increase risk. Between May 1994 and June 1995, nine newborns underwent surgery due to mechanical ileus or intrauterine perforation of the small bowel. A case is reported of a Senegalese patient admitted for hydatiform mole. The serum human chorionic gonadotrophin concentration (hCG) was 900,000 UI.l-1. The patient was recognized to be clinically hyperthyroid with raised T4 and T3 values, but a very low TSH concentration. Bleeding gastroesophageal varices is associated with a high morbidity and mortality. Forty-four cases of bleeding gastroesophageal varices were treated at the Department of Surgery, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, General Hospital, Kuala Lumpur over four and a half years. Right hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm following laparoscopic cholecystectomy is rare, but its rupture is common. It carries a high mortality rate if not successfully timely managed.
