The authors studied 79 common epithelial ovarian tumors in order to ascertain the intermediate filament profiles in formalin-fixed and methacarn-fixed, paraffin-embedded surgical pathology materials. Ultra-structural correlations were attempted with several tumors. All categories of common benign and malignant epithelial tumors were examined. The medial nucleus of the trapezoid body (MTB), a cell group in the superior olivary complex, was examined in an age-graded series of rats for neuron loss, changes in the giant synaptic endings (chalices of Held) on MTB neurons, and accumulation of age pigment. Neuron counts were done on protargol-stained paraffin sections of MTBs from a series of 17 rats aged 2-3, 6, 18, and 24 months. Seventy-four acetabula from a total of 140 normal human fetuses, obtained from abortions and deaths in the prenatal period, were used. The fetuses ranged from 9.1 to 40 cm in crown-rump length and are believed to be between 12 weeks and term. The purpose of this study was to present our series of patients with disastrous consequences of failed penile self-augmentation and suggested surgical reconstruction. Ten patients with median age of 23 years and a variety of penile and scrotal deformities due to injections of several substances had undergone successful surgical reconstruction of external genitalia.
