The results of three cases with infantile-onset Pompe disease participating in a rehabilitation program with home-based vibration training will be presented. In this retrospective observational case study, the cases participated in the neuromuscular training program "Auf die Beine", which combines two blocks of intensive, goal directed training with 6 months of home-based whole body vibration (WBV). Assessments by the means of a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and grip strength were applied at multiple points throughout the program. Two cases showed an increase in lean mass index of +0.319 kg

PURPOSE: To determine bone mineral density (BMD) of transgender girls before pubertal blockade, and correlate with lifestyle and clinical variables.
METHODS: Six transfemale peri-pubertal girls had knee magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with T1-weighted images and single-voxel proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). BMD measurements were obtained via dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Questionnaires about physical activity, diet, and the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) were completed. The T2 relaxation rate of water (R2 = 1/T2 in s -1) was correlated with scores on surveys.
RESULTS: Three

INTRODUCTION: Loss of skeletal muscle mass is a well-recognised complication of cirrhosis. Bedside methods to assess skeletal muscle mass including anthropometrics and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) are negatively impacted by fluid overload in advanced cirrhosis and thus there is a need to identify alternatives. There is a paucity of data on the accuracy of commonly used radiological methods such as dual X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to assess appendicular lean mass (ALM), and computed tomography (CT) skeletal muscle area in patients with cirrhosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate t

UNLABELLED: After menopause, bones decline in structure and can break more easily. Physical activity can strengthen bones. This study investigated how activity and body composition can impact bone structure in post-menopausal women. Higher levels of physical activity were positively associated with bone structure at the lower leg.
PURPOSE: The menopausal transition is characterized by dramatic bone loss, leading to an increased risk of fracture. Few studies have examined how modifiable risk factors influence bone structure. Thus, the objective of this cross-sectional study was to examine the
