We identified an extremely rare congenital porcine type 0 lateral bicuspid aortic valve from a fresh porcine heart. Using a 3-dimensionally printed ex vivo left heart simulator, we analyzed valvular hemodynamics at baseline, in an aortic aneurysm disease model, and after valve-sparing root replacement. OBJECTIVE: Outcomes of the Florida Sleeve (FS) procedure in patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) have not been reported before. We compared outcomes of the FS procedure between patients with BAV and those with tricuspid aortic valve (TAV).

Cardiac valve lipomatous hamartomas are very rare lesions with preferential localization on the pericardium, followed by the endocardial surfaces. We report a quite unique case of a lipomatous hamartoma-like lesion involving a bicuspid aortic valve. The lesion was incidentally found in a young patient undergoing cardiac surgery for aortic regurgitation, and the diagnosis was done by histology. It cannot be excluded that the lipomatous hamartoma-like lesion might have contributed to aortic valve regurgitation.
