The heat production of the interaction of normal and thyrotoxic cardiac myosins with ATP and ADP was studied in a microcalorimeter. As compared to the normal protein the thyrotoxic cardiac myosin gave a larger negative enthalpy, entropy, and heat capacity change. These results indicate that the enthalpy, entropy, and heat capacity differences between the two conformational states of myosin are larger in the thyrotoxic cardiac muscle than in the normal control. In an attempt to develop a diagnostic test for malignant hyperpyrexia (MH) without the need for open muscle biopsy, we have investigated the change in heat production brought about when platelets and muscle are exposed to halothane and caffeine. Halothane 3% caused platelet aggregation, which was itself associated with heat production. A common distinction between the ordinary glasses formed by melt cooling and the stable amorphous films formed by vapor deposition is the apparent mechanism of their devitrification. In this paper, cellulose triacetate (CTA) was produced from sugarcane bagasse and used as matrices for controlled release of paracetamol.
