The hair tourniquet is a well-described phenomenon. Typically, a hair or filament becomes tightly wrapped around an appendage, thereby causing swelling, pain, and, in extreme cases, necrosis. Affected areas include fingers, toes, and the genitalia. A case of a 9-year-old girl with a clitoral hair tourniquet is described, and a review of the literature of genital tourniquets in females is presented, with a discussion about potential etiology. Despite some efforts to enhance clitoral knowledge to increase women's sexual pleasure, a gendered orgasm gap persists. We aimed to provide contemporary data on people's knowledge about the clitoris and investigate its association with the experience of sexual pleasure. Heterosexual participants (n = 573; 64.2% women) took a quiz on clitoral knowledge and answered sexuality-related questions. Participants answered only 50% of the nine quiz items correctly. Nine young women who had clitoral recession for clitoromegaly as infants have been evaluated for anatomical appearance, psychosocial adjustment, and sexual function.
