The purpose of the study was to elucidate the occupational challenges of re-entrants. Convenience and snowball recruitment strategies were used to solicit participants for this exploratory, interpretive phenomenological approach study. Five re-entry service providers and four re-entrants completed extensive interviews. Three levels of open, axial coding were completed with the transcripts. Two primary contexts were acknowledged between service providers and re-entrants: Barriers and Successful Reintegration. Themes were identified: Appreciating Re-entrants' Narratives, Person Centered Approach

Community-academic partnerships are increasingly recognized as essential for advancing equitable public health outcomes. Yet many partnerships struggle to move beyond short-term, project-based collaboration toward sustained, trust-based engagement with communities. This commentary draws on the experience of the University of California San Diego Center for Community Health (CCH) and its long-standing partnerships with immigrant, refugee, and other underserved communities in San Diego County. Over more than two decades of practice, CCH and its community partners developed the Community-Led Tran

Increasingly, communities across the U.S. are looking to prevent families from unnecessary involvement with the child welfare system. Community-based participatory research methods, like community cafés, offer a framework for developing solutions in partnership with groups impacted by the child welfare system. The present study, which is part of a larger child welfare prevention demonstration project, is among the first to use community cafés with families and mandated reporters to inform the design of a community response program. Evaluators worked with local partners to host eleven community

INTRODUCTION: The electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS) is a mobile health technology that was scaled nationally to community health workers (CHWs) in Kenya beginning in 2023. Since the rapid scale up, reports on eCHIS uptake show varying adoption rates. The overall purpose of this study was to assess the relationships between implementation process and acceptability of eCHIS by CHWs in Kenya.
METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 5 counties in Kenya with 310 CHWs (40 community health assistants and 270 community health promoters) selected through convenience stra

To describe intellectual disability inclusion in local health department (LHD) community health assessments (CHAs) and community health improvement plans (CHIPs), this study used a cross-sectional design, analyzing CHAs and CHIPs of Public Health Accreditation Board-accredited LHDs. We find that approximately 5% (n = 17) of CHAs included an intellectual disability (ID) partner in the development process. Less than 2% (n = 3) of CHIPs included a goal, objective, or activity that specifically included people with ID. Many CHAs used language that identified ID as a health outcome to be prevented.

In the field of cybernetics, understanding the structural intricacies of complex networks is essential for advancing computational intelligence and networked systems. One of the biggest challenges in this domain is the accurate detection of community structures, which help reveal the underlying organization and functionality of these networks. However, community detection (CD) algorithms usually suffer from the accuracy-time tradeoff, where high accuracy often comes at the cost of high computational time, while faster algorithms often lose precision. Moreover, most of the current methods lack

PROBLEM: In early 2024, Lao People's Democratic Republic experienced a surge in dengue cases approaching levels of its 2013 epidemic, underscoring the persistent threat of dengue during the monsoon season. Although awareness of preventive behaviours is high, inconsistent adoption has limited their effectiveness.
CONTEXT: In response, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, implemented an innovative, humour-driven risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) campaign targeting individuals who perceived dengue as a routine health concern.
ACTION: To c

INTRODUCTION: The HEALing (Helping to End Addiction Long-Term®) Communities Study (HCS) aimed to reduce opioid-involved overdose deaths across four states (Kentucky, Massachusetts, New York, and Ohio) via community-engaged implementation of three evidence-based practices (EBPs): (1) opioid overdose education and naloxone distribution, (2) medication for opioid use disorder expansion/linkage/retention, and (3) safer opioid prescribing and dispensing practices. A policy workgroup (PWG) was convened and developed a procedure to identify and address policies potentially impacting EBP implementatio

Despite men's health playing a significant role in the well-being of infants, children, and women, there is a gap in maternal and child health research which more broadly considers men's health as a component of family's and community's overall well-being and for the sake of men's own health and well-being, particularly from the perspective of men with marginalized identities, such as Black men, and community members. Therefore, our community-based participatory research study aimed to explore what community members perceive as protective and risk factors for the general health of men in a low

BACKGROUND: Pharmacogenomics (PGx) clinical decision support (CDS) is essential for effective PGx implementation, yet most tools remain confined to institutional settings. Community pharmacists, who make up nearly half of the U.S. pharmacy workforce, are among the most accessible health care providers, offering care without appointments and reaching patients across both urban and rural areas. This accessibility positions them as critical entry points for delivering PGx services and advancing equitable access. However, many lack the training and resources necessary to provide informed PGx care.

People with psychosis typically show high levels of sedentary behaviour and low levels of physical activity. Effective interventions are needed, and staff will play a crucial role in implementation. Aims: To understand staff perspectives on reducing sedentary behaviour and increasing physical activity. Eighteen staff from NHS mental health trust community teams were interviewed, with data analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. Four themes were developed: (1) Choosing to target movement: staff recognise the need to address movement but struggle to prioritise it; (2) Encouraging but not ste

OBJECTIVES: Community-based participatory research (CBPR) is a collaborative research process which engages researchers and community members as equals during all phases of a research project. This approach promotes social change and enhances the practical relevance of the research. One key tool in CBPR is the community advisory board (CAB), where individuals with lived experience and community organizations are integrated into the research process and align research with community priorities. This scoping review: (1) explores best practices for effective recruitment and engagement of people w

Background The effectiveness of repurposed treatments with supportive evidence for higher risk individuals with COVID-19 in the community is unknown. In the UK PRINCIPLE national platform trial we aimed to determine whether 're-purposed medicines' (hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, doxycycline, colchicine, inhaled budesonide, and other interventions) reduced time to recovery and COVID-19 related hospitalisations/deaths among people at higher risk of COVID-19 complications in the community. We mainly report the findings for budesonide arm here. Methods Participants in this multicentre, open-lab
