AIM: In the current review study, we present recent data regarding the importance of intertwin estimated fetal weight (EFW) and crown rump length (CRL) discordance for the prediction of adverse perinatal outcome both in monochorionic and in dichorionic diamniotic gestations.
RESULTS: Twins with significant weight disparity are associated with higher rates of perinatal morbidity and mortality, regardless of gestational age at delivery. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the usefulness of first-trimester crown-rump length (CRL) discordance in predicting adverse outcome in twin pregnancies.
METHODS: This retrospective study included a large cohort retrieved from local ultrasound databases at 14 obstetric departments in Denmark, comprising all twin pregnancies with two live fetuses scanned between 11 and 14 weeks' gestation during the period 1 January 2004 to 31 December 2006. However, surgical crown lengthening of single teeth risks asymmetry of the gingival outline in the esthetic zone. The management of complicated crown-root fractures is a challenge. Intentional replantation with 180° rotation may be a useful procedure to overcome this problem. In Case 1, a 23-year-old woman with complicated crown-root fractured teeth #11, #21, and #22 was referred for treatment. All fractured teeth were extracted, rotated 180°, and replanted in a slightly extruded position. After 3 months, root canal treatment was completed and the final restorations fabricated. Acute pseudogout of the neck, also known as the crowned dens syndrome, is a rare cause of neck pain characterised by crystalline deposition in periodontoid articular tissues. It is typified clinically by severe cervical pain and stiffness, often in conjunction with pyrexia and raised inflammatory markers. As such, it is often misdiagnosed. We report 2 cases of crowned dens syndrome masquerading respectively as meningitis and polymyalgia rheumatica, and review the literature with particular attention to the clinical and radiological aspects of this under-recognised condition.

Interaction of dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DBC) with H 3O (+) (HP) in nitrobenzene- d 5 and dichloromethane- d 2 was studied by using (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra and relaxations, FTIR spectra, and quantum chemical DFT calculations. Driven by metal coordination, a flexible crown ether was self-assembled into neutral discrete complexes with two organoplatinum acceptors. Specifically, a [1 + 1]-assembled structure was separated from self-assemblies with different stoichiometries by vapor diffusion of acetone into their dichloromethane solution. The formation of these crown ether-incorporated self-assemblies was confirmed by NMR, elemental analysis, and X-ray single-crystal analysis.
