Background Maxillary expansion (ME) might be beneficial in improving airway dimensions and obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) in patients with constricted maxillae. The aim of this overview is to present clinicians with a summary of the evidence. Data from systematic reviews and meta-analyses were evaluated to investigate the effect of ME on OSAS.Methods An electronic search was commenced in five databases, in addition to a manual search until July 2021. Introduction The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects of maxillary expansion on adults with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).Methods Electronic searches up to July 2021 in eight electronic databases were conducted. Study selection, data extraction, risk of bias evaluation using ROBINS-I, quality of evidence assessment using GRADE and meta-analyses were performed. Results The electronic searches yielded 1,007 studies. Following the application of the eligibility criteria, 15 articles were fully read and five studies were included. The studies evaluated the ef

Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic has urged healthcare systems to develop new ways to safely provide care. Telehealth has become a compelling alternative. Our purpose was to evaluate the accuracy and effectiveness of teledentistry for screening, diagnosis and therapeutic management of dental care in children and adults. Methods We conducted a systematic review (SR) of systematic reviews. Multiple databases, the grey literature and conference archives were searched. Eligible SRs included those reporting virtual screening, diagnostic investigations and therapeutic interventions. Design Single-blind randomised cross-over trial.Intervention The study compared solution deposition pain of a maxillary lateral incisor infiltration between a computer-controlled local anaesthesia delivery device (Dentapen) and traditional syringe. The Dentapen was given with a slow flow rate of 1.8 mL/162 sec and ramp-up mode, and the traditional syringe infiltration was delivered at a flow rate of 1.8 ml/60 sec. Patients were randomly assigned to a sequence to receive both interventions at two separate appointments, with each participant acting as their own control. Patients rated the pain o

Background Oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) include erythroplakia, erosive lichen planus, non-homogenous leukoplakia and many others. These lesions may revert to healthy tissues, remain unchanged, or undergo malignant change to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Early detection allows early management, which subsequently improves survival rates for OSCC. Current diagnostic practice involves a tissue biopsy with histology. This can be uncomfortable for patients and delays diagnosis. Other, less invasive diagnostic tests are available which can provide immediate results. Objectives

Background Pain management in endodontic treatment is often managed with local anaesthetic, occasionally supplemented with oral medication. Currently, there is little evidence to suggest the best combination of local anaesthetic and oral medication to provide optimal pain control in symptomatic irreversible pulpits. A network meta-analysis was carried out to identify the best agent/technique for pulpal anaesthesia in both the maxilla and mandible in irreversible pulpits. Methods Electronic searches of Medline, Cochrane Central and Google Scholar.
