INTRODUCTION: Artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing rapidly across clinical medicine, yet its application within ophthalmic nursing, spanning emergency triage, perioperative care, day surgery, and patient education, remains poorly characterized. The growing burden of eye disease and the demand for community-based ophthalmic screening create an urgent context for understanding where AI can augment nursing capacity in this field and what barriers may be limiting evidence generation. This review aimed to systematically map published evidence on AI applications in ophthalmic nursing practice a

BACKGROUND: Inappropriate antibiotic treatments for urinary tract infections (UTIs) in nursing homes cause the development of resistant bacteria. Nonspecific symptoms and asymptomatic bacteriuria are drivers of overtreatment. Nursing home staff provide general practice with information about ailing residents; therefore, their knowledge and communication skills influence prescribing. This paper describes the development of a tailored, complex intervention for a cluster-randomised trial that targets the knowledge of UTI and communication skills in nursing home staff to reduce antibiotic prescrip

BACKGROUND: Behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) are common among nursing home residents, notably those with Alzheimer disease and related diseases, impacting both themselves and health care professionals. Nonpharmacological interventions, including virtual reality (VR), have shown promise, but evidence from multicenter ecological studies remains limited.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness, in terms of BPSD evolution, immediate well-being, and social interactions, of a VR-based immersion intervention (Lumeen) as a nonpharmacological approach to manag

BACKGROUND: The first 1,000 days—from conception through 24 months of age—represent a critical and largely irreversible developmental window that shapes child survival, brain architecture, metabolic programming, and lifelong health trajectories. Despite substantial global investment in early childhood development, significant knowledge gaps persist regarding context-specific implementation strategies, particularly in rapidly developing healthcare systems. This scoping review maps determinants of health and development in the first 1,000 days and identifies implications for nursing practice and

There is little empirical evidence that guides management of infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome. The standard of care first described in the 1970s is still prevalent today, although it has never been tested in this population. Standard of care interventions include decreasing external stimulation, holding, nonnutritive sucking, swaddling, pressure/rubbing, and rocking. These interventions meet the goals of nonpharmacologic interventions, which are to facilitate parental attachment and decrease external stimuli. Many nursing interventions used in infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome

Approximately 20 per 100,000 people in the United States are currently living with myasthenia gravis (MG). MG is a chronic condition that occurs in all genders, ethnicities, and ages. The result of a defect at the neuromuscular junction, MG is characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness and fatigue. The purpose of the first edition of this American Association of Neuroscience Nurses' Clinical Practice Guideline is to summarize what is currently known about MG and to provide the reader with nursing-specific recommendations based on supporting evidence from nursing and other disciplines. AIMS: Chlamydia disproportionately affects individuals aged 15-24 years. A lack of chlamydia knowledge in this high-risk group likely contributes to decreased testing, but interventions to increase chlamydia knowledge in this population are not well-described in the literature. The purpose of this pilot project was to increase chlamydia knowledge in a sample of university students using nurse-developed web-based education.
DESIGN: A pre- and post-test design was used to evaluate participant knowledge of chlamydia before and after completing a nurse-developed web-based education intervention d

This reflective manuscript highlights the lived experiences of 7 nurse scholars whose educational journeys and professional development were supported by the Kaiser Permanente (KP) Scholars Academy over the past decade. Their narratives describe how academic progression, leadership development, and Caring Science-informed wellness programs (eg, Healing Circles, HeartMath, and Caritas Coach Education) shaped their leadership identities, influenced local systems change, and strengthened a culture of inquiry and evidence‑based practice (EBP). These stories are framed within contemporary scholarsh

Background/Objectives: Nursing-sensitive outcomes are key indicators of nursing care quality and safety. Digitalization of clinical documentation enables prospective surveillance using routine data, but real-world evidence on integrated digital, clinical record-based approaches remains limited. This pilot study assessed the feasibility of using routinely collected digital data, combined with ward-level indicators, to support nursing-sensitive outcome surveillance and to preliminarily identify factors associated with these outcomes during hospitalization. Methods: An observational pilot study w
