Exploring Beliefs, Concerns, Prenatal Care Advice, and Sources of Information About Gestational Weight Gain Among Immigrant Central American Pregnant Women in the United States.

Gestational weight gain (GWG) is critical for maternal and neonatal health, but excessive GWG can lead to complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, and increased obesity risk later in life. Minoritized and immigrant women often face higher risks of excessive GWG. This cross-sectional study assessed Central American women's beliefs and concerns about GWG, the receipt of advice from healthcare providers, and sources of information for healthy weight management during pregnancy. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 93 pregnant women from El Salvador (31.2%), Guatemala (46.2

eHealth literacy, cyberchondria and perceived stress among older adults in primary care: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Digital health information use among older adults has increased rapidly; however, higher exposure to online health information may also contribute to anxiety-related behaviors such as cyberchondria. Evidence regarding the associations among eHealth literacy, cyberchondria, and perceived stress in older adults within primary care settings remains limited. This study aimed to examine the associations between eHealth literacy, cyberchondria, and perceived stress among older adults attending a primary healthcare center and to evaluate how these variables differ according to sociodemogr

The effectiveness of artificial intelligence health education accurately linking system on self-management in non-specific lower back pain patients.

BACKGROUND: Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with mobile health is revolutionizing chronic disease management. Non-specific lower back pain (NSLBP), a leading worldwide disabling condition, negatively impairs patient quality of life and psychological status. Standard treatments, mostly pharmacological and physiotherapies, do not offer long-term support for self-management. Consequently, we developed the AI-Health Education Accurately Linking System (AI-HEALS) to investigate its application in improving self-management, alleviating pain, and enhancing overall life quality for NSLBP pati

Individualizing Care: Management Beyond Medical Therapy.

The evolving research landscape, with advances in the omics technologies, availability of large-scale patient cohorts, and forthcoming availability of novel drugs in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), is creating a unique opportunity for developing a precision medicine (PM) program. PM has potential to change the paradigm of management. Diagnostic work-up of PBC patients may include information on genetic variants and molecular signature to define a particular subtype of disease and provide an estimate of treatment response and survival. To reach this point, specific interventions, such as seq

A pilot study on the pattern of COVID-19 information sources and its associated factors among the public in Qatar: a cross-sectional survey.

BACKGROUND: During the coronavirus pandemic, many people looked for information on COVID-19 through social, official, and traditional media sources. This caustic situation resulted in panic among the public, leading to many false news, conspiracy theories, and magical cures being spread among the public at an alarming rate. Controversial theories about the validity of vaccination and non-adoption of disease control resulted in a slow disease control rate and adverse impacts on global health and the economy. Recent studies have shown that health information could safely guard mental health duri

Management of chronic hepatitis B in the Torres Strait Islands: an identified need for a comprehensive public health approach to chronic hepatitis B in remote Australian Indigenous communities.

We aimed to document how health service providers in the Torres Strait Island region of northern Australia respond to chronic hepatitis B, and to identify priorities for the effective clinical management of the infection. Semi-structured qualitative interviews with 61 health service providers were conducted in 2011 in the Torres Strait and north Queensland region to explore issues affecting chronic hepatitis B management. Two critical issues were identified affecting the health service response to chronic hepatitis B: (i) the absence of a systems-based approach to clinically managing the infec

Learing disabilities and the primary care physician.

Approximately 10% of the population has learning disabilities (LD). Although the main manifestations occur in childhood, many of the primary and secondary manifestations of LD can continue into adult life. The high prevalence of LD and the current economic climate in Canada imply that the primary care physician must have a role in the identification, diagnosis, and management services for persons with LD. Information about the specific aspects of a particular person's LD should be incorporated into the evaluation and management of other health matters with which the primary care physician deal
