PURPOSE: To investigate the effects of the new K(ATP) channel opener, ZD6169, shown to have an in vivo selectivity for the bladder, on bladder activity in rats.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: ZD6169 was given intra-arterially (i.a., 0.1 and 1 mg./kg.) or orally (3 mg./kg.) to conscious Sprague-Dawley rats undergoing continuous cystometry. Investigations were also performed before and after stimulation of bladder activity by intravesical prostaglandin (PG) E2.

Since 1983 at the Alfred Hospital 4 patients with thrombotic or embolic vertebrobasilar occlusions have been treated with intra-arterial streptokinase (SK) infusions for the effects of persisting brainstem ischaemia despite anticoagulation with heparin. Survival in patients with metastatic carcinoid tumors is dependent on control of tumor growth and adequate palliation of vasoactive amine-induced symptoms of flushing, diarrhea, wheezing, and valvular heart disease. INTRODUCTION: Intracranial atherosclerotic disease is one of the major risk factors of ischemic stroke. BACKGROUND: Pedicled flaps based on the posterior auricular artery have been used for small auricular and mastoid cavity defects.
OBJECTIVE: To precisely define the vascular anatomy and angiosome (cutaneous distribution) of the posterior auricular artery.

The management of primary acute arterial occlusion depends upon distinguishing between embolism and thrombosis. During storage, large cellular aggregates and clots formed in venous blood but not in arterial blood.
