We have examined the mechanism of action of adenosine, a naturally occurring nucleoside that has profound effects on lymphocyte function. The coadministration of tubercidin and ethidium to mice infected with Trypanosoma gambiense gave a better parasite clearance than either of the single drugs. The combination was also more toxic to the mice but the inclusion of nitrobenzylthioinosinate in the therapy significantly alleviated the toxicity of the drug combination. ADAR-mediated A-to-I RNA editing is crucial for proper neuronal function. However, its spatial signatures in the cerebral cortex remain largely unexplored. To address this, we developed SRDRE, an analysis framework for identifying RNA editing sites in spatial transcriptomics data. Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) is a progressive inflammatory disease of the central nervous system with poor prognosis and high mortality. No effective treatment has a proven role; oral isoprinosine and intrathecal administration of alpha-interferon may prolong survival. We report an unusual case of adult onset SSPE patient on treatment with significant clinical improvement, even in the absence of conversion to seronegativity in either CSF or serum, on follow-up serological examination.

In the present study we investigated the role of the cholinergic pathway in phosphoinositide metabolism activation observed during soman-induced convulsions. We thus studied the effect of atropine sulphate, a muscarinic antagonist (20 mg kg-1, i.p.), on IP3 levels in rat hippocampus.
