The intraocular pressure (IOP) of glaucomatocyclitic crisis with the attack fell 50.3%, from 37.8 +/- 8.2 mmHg to 18.8 +/- 4.8 mmHg, 4 hours after instillation of 1% apraclonidine. Immunoglobulin G (IgG) in aqueous humor from patients with various uveitis syndromes was analyzed using a number of immunologic techniques. Sixty-five percent of patients with Fuchs' heterochromic cyclitis (FHC), 70% of patients with other forms of uveitis, and 44% of controls showed local synthesis of IgG, as demonstrated by an elevated IgG:albumin relative concentration ratio. Rubella virus is involved in the pathogenesis of Fuchs heterochromic uveitis and almost all cases in Europe show an active antibody production in the aqueous humor against rubella virus. Herein we report a case of a fully vaccinated patient with common variable immunodeficiency who developed unilateral Fuchs heterochromic uveitis secondary to rubella virus which was proven by intraocular fluid examination. Awareness of rubella associated anterior uveitis should remain also in vaccinated patients, especially those without a fully competent immune system.

Over a 1.5-year postoperative period, surface precipitates were observed on hydrogel intraocular lenses (IOLs) by specular microscopy. In eyes with prolonged postoperative inflammation, a higher number of cells was observed. In these cases, the cells remained on the IOL surface for a longer period.
