Three cases of melanotic neuroectodermal tumors of infancy are presented. Two were localized on the midline, involving the skull and extending subdurally. One was located on the inner aspect of the dura and developed intracranially. Two had a benign course following gross total removal. One had a malignant course, recurring locally and spreading within the brain. The difficulties of removing these tumors when they are implanted on the midline are stressed. Histological features of prognostic value are pointed out. Further support for neural crest origin of these tumors is given.

A 66-year-old man presented with complaints of numbness for the past 5 years and progressive motor weakness of the right leg for the previous 2 months. Fifty-nine patients with bronchogenic carcinoma and 21 patients with nonneoplastic lung diseases underwent intraoperative pleural lavage with 300-ml physiologic saline before (Lavage I) and after resection (Lavage II). PURPOSE: Diffuse anterior retinoblastoma is an exquisitely rare variant of retinoblastoma in which the tumor resides in the anterior segment of the eye, without apparent retinal involvement. Previously published cases have been managed with enucleation. We describe globe salvage and visual preservation in 3 consecutive cases using chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Swietenia macrophylla King in Hook (SM) is known to have several medicinal properties. Chloroform extracts of SM seeds (SMCE) as well as two isolated limonoids swietenine (1) and swietenolide (2) showed significant in vitro anti-CRC activity in human colon carcinoma (HCT116) cell line. 2 (IC50 = 5.6 µM) was found to be two times more potent than 1 (IC50 = 10 µM). BACKGROUND: Podoplanin (PDPN) has emerged as a functionally relevant biomarker and chemotherapeutic target expressed by OSCC cells.
