OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to identify which point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) techniques and sonographic signs were reliably acquired and interpreted by transport nurses for the confirmation of endotracheal tube placement in children.
METHODS: We developed and assessed a multimodal POCUS training curriculum for transport nurses that evaluated 5 sonographic signs using 3 scanning techniques.

OBJECTIVES: Presenting the Belgian new framework for Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) - 'Verpleegkundig Specialist [VS]'/"Infirmier de pratique avancée [IPA]" outlined in the Law of 22 April 2019, followed by a discussion of the lack of clarity, the current challenges and future opportunities.

BACKGROUND: Children presenting with symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have become highly prevalent in primary care practice; however, advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) diagnostic methods used to identify and diagnose this disorder are greatly understudied.

A 50-year-old nurse with chronic back pain developed painful paraesthesia in the legs and saddle region during walking. Because pain in the legs could not be provoked by standing erect, the orthotic-lordotic cauda syndrome or neurogenic intermittent claudication (spinal canal stenosis) became unlikely and vascular intermittent claudication likely. The femoral pulses were absent. Angiography showed severe stenosis of the distal aorta which was successfully treated by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty.

Knowledge, attitudes, and practice patterns concerning cholesterol and heart disease were evaluated in a stratified, random sample of 206 registered nurses at a major academic medical center in New York City. Virtually all nurses were convinced of the importance of diet in reducing heart disease risk, and most (78%) agreed that nutrition counseling should be their responsibility.
