Bi-maxillary protrusion is a condition with protrusive and proclined upper and lower incisors and the patient is not able to close lips without strain. The presented case reported with the chief complaint of forwardly placed teeth, with skeletal class II malocclusion, and Angle's class I malocclusion with protrusive and forwardly placed upper and lower incisors. The treatment was performed with the extraction of all first premolars and retraction under absolute anchorage. The retraction of upper and lower lips of about 3 mm and 3.5 mm was achieved respectively and the patient was able to close

INTRODUCTION: Despite a high prevalence of agenesis, third molars should frequently be considered in our orthodontic treatment plans.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: The aim of this study was to describe, according to the literature, the therapeutic possibilities of third molar management.
RESULTS: The avulsion isn't systematic. The French National Authority for Health has updated its guidance about it. Indeed, surgical procedures can present with potentially irreversible risks (nerve damage, bone necrosis). It is necessary to assess the benefit/risk balance and to inform the patient accordingly. Apical root resorption is a biological process induced when orthodontic force is exerted on a tooth and local necrosis of the periodontal ligament occurs. Macrophages remove the necrotic tissue. In this way, differentiating osteoclasts can both attach to the now available dental surface and can then provoke root resorption. There is considerable uncertainty among dental practitioners on how to deal with clinically relevant apical root resorption (bigger/equal 2 mm) during or after orthodontic treatment. To increase understanding and to improve the quality of care, the Dutch Association of Orth

This study discusses the role of orthodontic treatment as an adjunct to the control and treatment of periodontal disease conditions, and describes a clinical case of severe anterior mandibular crowding and periodontal disease followed up for nine years and three months after orthodontic treatment completion. Malocclusion impaired proper dental hygiene, which led to bone loss and development of a periodontal abscess between mandibular canines and lateral incisors. After scaling and root planing, orthodontic treatment was initiated with extraction of the four second premolars, to correct the def

Reduced periodontal support is a challenge that clinicians often face during rehabilitation of compromised dentition. The close and intricate relationship between the periodontal tissues and the processes of tooth movement suggest that adjunct orthodontic therapy may play an important role in overcoming these problems. On the other hand, excessive movement of teeth beyond the anatomic boundaries of the alveolar process is commonly believed to contribute to further destruction of the periodontal tissues. This review evaluates the clinical effects of various orthodontic tooth movements on the su

The timing of orthodontic interventions has been a contentious topic for many years with early treatment to address or indeed to prevent skeletal discrepancies in all three spatial planes and to alleviate crowding in common practice. In terms of effectiveness, however, broadly speaking early intervention has not been shown to be superior to later intervention. As such, in view of the additional burden and duration of early intervention, the weight of evidence points to reserving early treatment for localized problems and specific situations with definitive treatment typically initiated in the

The demand and accessibility of orthodontic care has increased but has also been accompanied by patient requests for shorter treatment times. Longer orthodontic treatment increases the risk of decalcification, gingival recession, and root resorption and so shorter treatment times have multiple advantages as well as appealing to patient's desires. Numerous techniques and materials have been suggested to reduce treatment times but, in most cases, are based upon selected case reports with no prospective clinical trials to validate claims. The present review examines many of the current options pu
