Multi-tissue miRNA networks in preterm birth: from molecular mechanisms to precision medicine.

Preterm birth (PTB) remains the leading cause of neonatal mortality and long-term complications worldwide, yet its molecular pathogenesis-particularly the coordinated regulation across different gestational tissues-is poorly understood. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are key regulators of gene expression and exhibit tissue-specific patterns in pregnancy-related tissues, including the cervix, placenta, and amniotic membrane. This narrative review provides a comprehensive and integrative overview from a perspective of putative cross-tissue miRNA crosstalk. We summarize the differential miRNA expression prof

Organoids in translation: a bench-to-bedside framework for pancreatic cancer precision medicine.

INTRODUCTION: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most lethal malignancies with a 5-year survival rate of < 13%. Standard treatments such as FOLFIRINOX or gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel yield modest response rates, underscoring the urgent need for precision oncology approaches. Patient-derived organoids (PDOs) preserve the genomic, phenotypic, and histopathological features of the source tumor and offer a promising platform for drug screening, biomarker development, and personalized therapy. However, a systematic evaluation of their translational capacities is lacking. METHODS:

Cardiac CT for personalized phenotyping in stable coronary artery disease: toward precision medicine.

Following technological developments and new landmark trials, the diagnostic work-up of symptomatic chronic coronary artery disease (CAD) has evolved. Clinical guidelines now favor noninvasive anatomical assessments by coronary CT angiography (CCTA) as the first-line modality to evaluate CAD in the majority of patients with chest pain. This shift from ischemia testing to stenosis and plaque characterization has resulted in the development of new imaging biomarkers reflecting a variety of coronary plaque features, many of which have proven to be important clinical risk markers. Consequently, th

From dysbiosis to precision medicine: targeting the microbial-metabolic axis in IBD management.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic relapsing inflammatory condition that has a rapidly changing global epidemiology. IBD has been traditionally viewed as a primary immune system dysfunction, but emerging evidence more accurately describes IBD as a perturbance of the intricate balance between host immunity, the intestinal microbiome, and intestinal metabolism. Although genetic and environmental components have long been recognized as contributors, accumulating evidence increasingly highlights the pivotal role of microbial dysbiosis in the pathogenesis of IBD. In patients with IBD, in

Precision medicine in rheumatoid arthritis: advances and clinical applications of multi-omics biomarkers.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a highly heterogeneous autoimmune disease characterized by the presence of synovitis, joint destruction, and systemic inflammation. Despite the substantial improvement in patient outcomes brought about by the advent of targeted therapies, the traditional "one-size-fits-all" treatment model still faces numerous challenges. These include individual variability in treatment response, a "trial-and-error" process in drug selection, and the emergence of refractory RA. Precision medicine is the development of optimal prevention and treatment strategies based on patients' …
