Cutaneous leiomyomas are uncommon, benign smooth muscle tumors originating from the arrector pili muscle of the hair follicle that are frequently unrecognized and underdiagnosed by clinicians. They sometimes coexist with common uterine fibroids in an inherited disorder named multiple cutaneous and uterine leiomyomatosis, also referred to as Reed's syndrome. We report a case of Reed's syndrome in a young woman who had been misdiagnosed for many years.

Our study of more than 250 women with hepatic tumors, accessioned in our tumor registry at the University of Louisville, disclosed three types of tumor: FNH , HCA, and HCC. The ingestion of sundry kinds of sex steroids by the majority of these women, chiefly for purposes of preventing conception, warrants the suspicion that such hormones induced these different types of hepatic tumors. BACKGROUND: Malignant transformation of mature cystic teratoma is a rare complication. While any of the constituent tissues of a teratoma has the potential to undergo malignant transformation, squamous cell carcinoma is the most commonly associated malignancy. Renal carcinoid tumors are rare and frequently associated with horseshoe kidney and renal teratoma. Renal teratoma rarely presents together with carcinoid tumor or adenocarcinoma. UNLABELLED: OBJECTIVES To define the effect of GnRH agonist (GnRHa) treatment on endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) expression in leiomyoma. The immunohistochemistry of 11 sclerosing stromal tumors (SSTs), 11 fibromas, and 5 thecomas was studied to determine criteria for the assessment of 5 densely sclerotic, calcified ovarian tumors of uncertain diagnosis occurring in young women. Patients with hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma (HLRCC) syndrome are prone to develop smooth muscle tumors of the uterus and skin and also renal carcinomas. The morphologic features of renal tumors that arise in the setting of HLRCC are well described, the hallmark feature being the presence of prominent eosinophilic nucleoli surrounded by a clear halo. Angioleiomyomas are rare benign tumors, which take origin from smooth muscle fibers of the tunica media of veins. Even though angioleiomyomas can appear anywhere in the body, these masses are rarely occurred in the gastrointestinal system. This is the first reported case of perianal angioleiomyomas, where the tumor in close relation with the anal canal was investigated with endoanal ultrasonography. Local excision of such lesion is generally curative.

Leiomyomas are benign tumors derived from smooth muscle tissue that rarely present outside the uterus. These tumors do not usually show FDG uptake. Herein, we report a case of primary myxoid leiomyoma of the liver. A 60-year-old woman complained of upper abdominal fullness. Computed tomography showed a solid tumor (8 cm) in the liver. The patient underwent right hepatectomy and histological findings from the resected specimen revealed scattered bland spindle cells in a background of exuberant myxoid material. The tumor cells were immunoreactive for smooth muscle actin and desmin. No other lesions were found elsewhere in the body. Thus, the tumor was diagnosed as a primary myxoid leiomyoma of the liver.
