OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical and sonographic features in patients with endometrial malignancy in whom endometrial thickness on ultrasound examination had been recorded in our database to be < 5 mm.
METHODS: This was a retrospective observational study on 187 consecutive patients diagnosed with endometrial malignancy in whom an ultrasound evaluation of the endometrium had been performed in our institution. The purpose of this study was to objectively evaluate the registration accuracy of an automated temporal subtraction system of thin-section thoracic CT. The automated subtraction system was applied to data from 20 subjects with lung diseases. The registration accuracy was evaluated based on the concept of target registration error using 19 landmarks chosen at the bifurcations of segmental bronchi. The landmarks were identified, and the displacements of the landmarks were measured. The average displacements of the landmarks in x, y and z directions were 0.56 pixels+/-0.64 (SD), 0.56 pixels+/-0.

BACKGROUND: Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) are classified clinically as pure when progressive spasticity occurs in isolation or complicated when other neurologic abnormalities are present. Surface deformations during the coalescence of two polymer melt films were studied by use of a surface forces apparatus (SFA). Nanocrystalline cadmium sulphide thin films were prepared by the chemical bath (CB) deposition using a mixed aqueous solution of cadmium chloride, thiourea, and ammonium chloride. The XRD patterns showed that the CdS films were of hexagonal phase with preferred (002) orientation. From ellipsometric measurements, the film thickness was found to be in order of 66 nm and the optical band gap was estimated to be 2.4 eV.

OBJECTIVE: To summarize the experience of repairing of severely burned hand and wrist with abdominal thin skin flaps in insertion pattern.
METHODS: Twelve burn patients with the dorsum of the hands and wrist being severely injured were enrolled in this report. OBJECTIVE: To study the postoperative convalescence of swallow after reconstruction of hypopharyngeal defect with the neck reverse rectangular thinned skin flap.

OBJECTIVE: To genetically analyze 9 thin basement membrane nephropathy (TBMN) pedegrees using microsatellite marker 2B6 and DXS101 closely linked with COL4A5 gene located on chromosome X.
METHODS: Genomic DNA was extracted. Highly polymorphic microsatellite markers (2B6 and DXS101) closely linked with COL4A5 gene located on chromosome X were amplified with PCR. Nine TBMN families were analysed.
RESULTS: Three of 9 TBMN families were linked with COL4A5 gene on chromosome X (lod score = 2.7, theta = 0.00).
CONCLUSION: X-linked TBMN is linked with COL4A5 gene on chromosome X.

To assess the ability of ultrasonography to detect the tip of a very thin (0.4 mm outer diameter) percutaneous central venous catheter (PCVC) in neonates, the PCVC tip location was assessed by ultrasonography (US) and compared to the location estimated by standard radiography for 57 PCVCs in 44 neonates. A detailed morphometric analysis of glomerular basement membrane (GBM) thickness was carried out on biopsies from 16 patients exhibiting normal histology and unremarkable immunofluorescence.
