[The anatomical characteristics of the root furcations in the molar teeth].

The aim of the present study has been to realize a morphometrical and morphological study on the anatomical characteristics of molar teeth root furcations. Two hundred ninety four molars (147 upper and 147 lower teeth), after extraction and elimination of periodontal ligament residuals by trypsin, have been morphometrically evaluated recording the principal anatomical characters of the furcal and radicular region (root and radicular trunk lengths, mesio-distal and vestibulo-palatal diameters at the cementum-enamel junction, inter-radicular angle width and furcal area extension). Impact of finish line designs on the adaptation of ceramic fixed dental prostheses: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Insufficient marginal and internal adaptation can lead to secondary caries, pulp infection, periodontal disease, and tooth loss. This network meta-analysis (NMA) assessed the impact of various finish line designs on the marginal and internal adaptation of ceramic fixed dental prostheses. METHODS: In vitro studies were conducted comparing the adaptation of full-ceramic fixed dental prostheses with various preparation designs (chamfer, shoulder, rounded shoulder, and vertical). An electronic search of four major databases (Cochrane Library, EMBASE, PubMed, Web of Science) on April 1

INFLUENCE OF TRICALCIUM SILICATE ON COURSE OF TRAUMATIC PULPITIS.

The use of Tricalcium Silicate (TS) as an odontotropic preparation makes it possible to create a hermetic crown restoration with a high degree of adhesion. However, the use of TS silicate by direct pulp capping remains disputable. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of TS on course of traumatic pulpitis by detection of morpho-functional peculiarities of changes in pulp tissue. We performed experimental investigation (on rabbits, males, aging three-month) for study of the morpho-functional changes of the pulp tissues with modeling of traumatic pulpitis and direct pulp capping wit

The Use of CAD/CAM Technology for Fabricating Cast Gold Survey Crowns under Existing Partial Removable Dental Prosthesis. A Clinical Report.

The fabrication of a survey crown under an existing partial removable dental prosthesis (PRDP) has always been a challenge to many dental practitioners. This clinical report presents a technique for fabricating accurate cast gold survey crowns to fit existing PRDPs using CAD/CAM technology. The report describes a technique that would digitally scan the coronal anatomy of a cast gold survey crown and an abutment tooth under existing PRDPs planned for restoration, prior to any preparation. The information is stored in the digital software where all the coronal anatomical details are preserved wi

A new method of attaching cast gold occlusal surfaces to acrylic resin denture teeth.

Historically, cast gold occlusal surfaces for complete or removable partial dentures have been fabricated with retentive loops or beads and luted to prepared denture teeth with acrylic resin or attached to tooth-colored, heat-processed acrylic resin. At present, alternatives to mechanical retention for attaching resin to metal include chemical bonding of the resin after placement of intermediate ceramic or tin layers and the use of chemically adhesive resin cements. Compared to mechanical retention, the chemical bonding of resin to metal requires less gold and allows more room for properly con

Comparing the Fracture Resistance of Dentine Posts and Glass Fiber Posts in Primary Maxillary Incisors: An In Vitro Study.

Background/purpose An ideal post material should have physical and mechanical properties similar to dentin. Another problem when restoring primary teeth that have undergone root canal treatment is the availability of materials that are resorbed in the exfoliation process in a manner similar to the structure of the natural tooth, allowing the normal eruption of a permanent tooth. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of using dentine posts on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated primary incisors in comparison to glass fiber posts. Materials and methods The study sample consisted

Evaluating Emdogain and healing of replanted teeth using an intra-individual experimental-control study design.

The purpose of the present investigation was to use an intra-individual experimental-control study design to explore if application of Emdogain prior to re-plantation after a dry extra-alveolar period of 60 min would promote a favorable healing of the periodontal ligament cells. Ten patients, for whom already decisions had been taken to extract two maxillary premolars because of crowding, participated in the study. The teeth were extracted and endodontic treatment was performed extra orally. The experimental tooth and its alveolar socket were covered with Emdogain prior to replantation. The co

The development and fate of the dental lamina of the mandibular first molar tooth in the rat.

The lamina of the first mandibular molar teeth of rats, age range 13 d intrauterine (i.u.) to 16 d postnatal (p.n.), was examined by light and transmission electron microscopy to establish histological baselines of its development and fate. All material was obtained from animals anaesthetised with ether, killed by cervical dislocation and prepared by routine methods for both types of examination. Contrary to earlier reports that the lamina remains intact throughout development, mesenchymal elements disrupt the lamina. These were seen first at 19 d i.u., as collagen-filled bays in the basal epi

Optimizing natural human-derived decellularized tissue materials for periodontal bone defect repair.

Periodontal disease is a major contributor to tooth loss worldwide in adults. Particularly, periodontal bone defect is a common clinical condition, yet current therapeutic strategies exhibit limited effectiveness. Recently, natural bone graft materials have attracted considerable interest for enhancing bone defect repair due to their superior biocompatibility and osteogenic capabilities. Nevertheless, clinically applicable human-derived biomaterials to boost bone regeneration are currently not accessible. Here, enlightened by the decellularization technique, we successfully prepared the human
