Can artificial intelligence achieve human-level performance? A pilot study of childhood sexual abuse detection in self-figure drawings.

Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a worldwide phenomenon that has negative long-term consequences for the victims and their families, and inflicts a considerable economic toll on society. One of the main difficulties in treating CSA is victims' reluctance to disclose their abuse, and the failure of professionals to detect it when there is no forensic evidence (Bottoms et al., 2014; McElvaney, 2013). Estimated disclosure rates for child sexual abuse based on retrospective adult reports range from 23 % to 45 % (e.g., Bottoms et al., 2014). This study reports the four stages in the development of a

The impact of risk perception on perceived benefits of generative artificial intelligence users-an empirical study based on university students.

Amid the rapid integration of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) into higher education, it remains unclear how the risk perception ability of university students, as a core group of users, is associated with their perceived benefits of Gen AI. To address this gap, this study develops an integrated theoretical framework drawing upon Cognitive Appraisal Theory (CAT), Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)/UTAUT2 to explain how different dimensions of risk perception differentially influence distinct categories of perceived benefits. Questionnaire s…

When self-control is no longer a protective factor: the moderating effect of institutionalized identity on attitudes toward artificial intelligence.

As artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly applied in high-risk industries, understanding the attitudes of different occupational groups toward AI and their underlying psychological correlates has become an important research issue. Existing studies typically conceptualize self-control as a psychological trait with universal adaptive value, suggesting that it helps buffer "individuals" negative attitudes toward new technologies; however, this assumption is primarily based on samples from the general population. Drawing on a situated perspective of psychological functioning, the present cr…

An artificial intelligence prediction model for optimizing patient selection for cardiac imaging for the investigation of suspected coronary artery disease.

AIMS: Nearly, 40% of patients undergoing elective invasive coronary angiography (ICA) are diagnosed with non-obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) or normal coronary anatomy, resulting in unnecessary risk exposure and increased costs to the healthcare system. In this study, we externally validate an artificial intelligence model for optimizing patient selection for ICA vs. coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) to reduce unnecessary ICAs. METHODS AND RESULTS: The model was trained on data from outpatients undergoing elective ICA at two cardiac centres in Ontario, Canada between 2…
