There are no immunological markers to predict the prognosis of thymoma-associated myasthenia gravis (MG). Clinical and immunological factors associated with thymoma recurrence or MG relapse were examined by logistic analyses in 56 Japanese patients with thymoma-associated MG. A 43-year-old woman with a 1-year history of generalized myasthenia gravis was referred for a video-assisted thorascopic surgery thymectomy. The preoperative chest computed tomography revealed mild diffuse thymic hyperplasia. Pathology of the resected thymus gland revealed a 6-mm World Health Organization (WHO) Type AB microthymoma without thymic germinal centres. The entity of microthymoma was reviewed with a focus on examining the pathological and therapeutic differences between thymic hyperplasia and microscopic thymoma.

OBJECTIVE: To estimate jitter parameters in myasthenia gravis in stimulated frontalis and extensor digitorum muscles using the concentric needle electrode.
METHODS: Forty-two confirmed myasthenia gravis patients, being 22 males (aged 45.6±17.2 years-old) were studied. Jitter was expressed as the mean consecutive difference (MCD).

The authors' experience of surgical treatment of myasthenia gravis in children was analyzed. 32 patients were operated on, mean age was 13±3 (5-21 years); girls were 26, boys were 6 (19%). Disease severity was IIB-IVB by the MGFA classification, all patients were on anticholinesterase and pednisolone therapy. Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) is an essential treatment for many neurological, immunological and haematological conditions. However, the severity of its rare adverse effects is often underrecognised.
