Thyroid hemiagenesis is a rare anomaly due to failure of development of one thyroid lobe during embryological life. A lot of thyroid disorders may accompany thyroid hemiagenesis. We report four cases of scombroid poisoning. During a lunch meeting three males had the same dish: a club sandwich with raw tuna. All developed erythema over the face and neck within two hours of eating the tuna. The severity of symptoms varied. Other symptoms were profuse sweating, a feeling of intense thirst and palpitations. The symptoms disappeared after few hours. Samples obtained from the tuna revealed histamine levels above the recommended FDA levels. OBJECTIVE: We evaluate the clinical results of thoracoscopic T3-4 sympathicotomy for axillary osmidrosis.
METHODS: From July 1995 to June 2 … s, good in 39 (15%) patients, fair in 55 (21%) patients, and poor in 24 (9%) patients. Compensatory sweating developed in 171 (65%) patients. Dry hands developed in 40 (15%) patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Thoracoscopic T3-4 sympathicotomy is a safe, fast, cosmetic, and effective method in treating axillary osmidrosis.

Thirty three patients with phaeochromocytomas had surgery in St. Vincent's Hospital between 1950 and 1997. 32 patients had hypertension, 32 had palpitations and 30 had excessive sweating. All patients had at least one of these cardinal symptoms. Diagnostic tests changed over this period. In the early cases the phentolamine test was used, later diagnosis was confirmed by measurement of urinary VMA and catecholamines. IVP, CT, ultrasound or MIBG scanning were used to locate the tumours. Before 1967, 3 of 17 patients died peri-operatively, 2 of these from strokes and one from pulmonary embolism. …
