The objective of this retrospective study was to determine the possible source of infection in homosexual men with rectal gonorrhoea: the probable source of rectal gonorrhoea was identified in 46/155 cases. Although the urethra was the site of infection in 33 (72%) of these contacts, only pharyngeal gonorrhoea was identified in 9 (20%) men. In 25/26 cases, there was concordance in the auxo/serotypes of Neisseria gonorrhoeae between contacts with urethral gonorrhoea and the index men with rectal gonorrhoea. Iatrogenic hypospadias is a preventable injury to the ventral male urethra produced by the downward pressure of an indwelling urethral catheter. We report our experience on performing ureteroscopic procedures using local anaesthesia with or without intravenous analgesia. During a two year period 334 ureteroscopic procedures were performed in our hospital. 159 of them were begun but only 138 completed without the use of general or regional anaesthesia. Acute anterior uveitis (AAU) may be associated with systemic infectious or inflammatory disease. We examined 92 patients with the first attack of acute anterior uveitis; all patients were free of any extraocular symptoms. This study focuses on a consecutive series of 31 boys, aged 5 years 3 months to 14 years 9 months, who had a first diagnosed urinary tract infection.
