Measurement of creatinine clearance remains in convenient because of the need for 24-hour urine collection. Our study compared creatinine clearance calculated from serum creatinine (CC alpha) to measured creatinine clearance (MC alpha) using an unsupervised 8-hour urine collection at home. We report seven patients who underwent diagnostic laparoscopy and biopsy under local anesthesia using a new optical catheter. Six of these procedures were performed in the office. Four patients had previous malignancies (lung, breast, and fallopian tube), and intraperitoneal recurrences or new primaries were suspected. A retrospective review of the transvaginal sonograms of 50 women with laparoscopically confirmed ectopic pregnancy was performed to determine whether certain sonographic findings can be detected to confirm the diagnosis. Of 146 hospitalized patients treated with aztreonam for infections, primarily of the urinary and lower respiratory tracts, 142 had a satisfactory clinical response.
