OccTTA: Fast and Memory-Efficient Test-Time Adaptation for 3D Occupancy Prediction.

3D semantic occupancy prediction (OCC) is a crucial task in vision-centric autonomous driving, focusing on reconstructing fine-grained 3D geometry and semantics of the scene surrounding the ego vehicle. Despite recent progress, OCC still faces a significant challenge in generalizing to real-world scenarios due to the unpredictable domain shifts between training data and diverse testing environments. A promising solution to this challenge is test-time adaptation (TTA), which enhances model generalization by updating its parameters to align with the testing domain during inference. However, appl

Silicone punctal plugs as an adjunctive therapy for open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

BACKGROUND: Primary open-angle glaucoma is a progressive optic neuropathy that can cause an irreversible loss of vision. A reduction in intraocular pressure (IOP) is beneficial in slowing or halting its progression. Once-per-day monotherapy glaucoma medications, such as prostaglandin analogues, are effective in lowering IOP while maintaining patients' adherence. Achieving the desired target IOP often requires multiple medications. The present study evaluates punctal occlusion of both the inferior and superior puncta as an adjunctive therapy to travoprost ophthalmic solution 0.004% for patients

Acceptability and concurrent validity of measures to predict older driver involvement in motor vehicle crashes: an Emergency Department pilot case-control study.

INTRODUCTION: Older drivers have one of the highest motor vehicle crash (MVC) rates per kilometer driven, largely due to the functional effects of the accumulation, and progression of age-associated medical conditions that eventually impact on fitness-to-drive. Consequently, physicians in many jurisdictions are legally mandated to report to licensing authorities patients who are judged to be medically at risk for MVCs. Unfortunately, physicians lack evidence-based tools to assess the fitness-to-drive of their older patients. This paper reports on a pilot study that examines the acceptability a

Baseline 24-2 Central Visual Field Damage Is Predictive of Global Progressive Field Loss.

PURPOSE: Central visual field (VF) damage in glaucoma patients can significantly hinder daily activities. The present study investigates whether the presence of localized baseline damage to the central 10 degrees of the VF is predictive of faster global mean deviation (MD) progression. DESIGN: Prospective cohort study. METHODS: Eyes from the multicenter African Descent and Glaucoma Evaluation Study (ADAGES) with established glaucoma and VF loss and a minimum of 5 24-2 VFs were eligible. Baseline central 24-2 damage was defined as any of the 12 central-most points with total deviation (TD) va

Contrast Acuity and the King-Devick Test in Huntington's Disease.

Saccadic eye movement abnormalities are among the earliest manifestations of Huntington's disease (HD) but are difficult to quantify at the bedside. Similarly, afferent visual pathway involvement in HD is poorly characterised. The objective was to evaluate afferent and efferent visual function in HD. Participants with manifest HD (n = 19) and healthy controls (n = 20) performed the King-Devick test, a timed test of rapid number naming. Binocular high and low-contrast (2.5% and 1.25%) acuities were measured using low-contrast Sloan letter charts, and pupillometric recordings were made using a h

fMRI of retina-originated phosphenes experienced by patients with Leber congenital amaurosis.

A phenomenon characterized by the experience of seeing light without any light actually entering the eye is called phosphenes or photopsias. Phosphenes can occur spontaneously or via induction by external stimuli. Previous reports regarding phosphenes have primarily focused on externally induced phosphenes such as by applying alternating or direct current to the cortex. A few of these reports used functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) to study activations induced by cortical phosphenes. However, there are no fMRI reports on spontaneous phosphenes originating from the retina and the resulting pa

Screening test for early detection of myopia based on hybrid images.

Myopia screening is crucial as early intervention can slow its progression reducing the risk of vision-threatening diseases. We present an innovative method that can be used by non-experts, such as parents. The method relies on "hybrid images", an optical illusion merging two images with different spatial frequencies, creating a perception that changes depending on visual acuity. Hybrid images are created by combining one image with reduced low spatial frequencies and another with attenuated high spatial frequencies. Various cutoff frequencies have been tested, and an optimization phase was ru

Retinitis pigmentosa and sensorineural deafness associated with a de novo DHX16 mutation: case report.

BACKGROUND: Retinitis pigmentosa and sensorineural deafness are two distinct clinical entities that can be caused by a variety of genetic mutations. The DHX16 gene, which encodes a protein involved in RNA processing, has been implicated in several genetic disorders. Here, we report a unique case of de novo DHX16 gene mutation presenting with both retinitis pigmentosa and sensorineural deafness. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe the story of two 2-year-old girls who presented with progressive vision loss and hearing impairment. Both of these cases presented with de novo heterozygous mutations in

A test-time clinically adaptive framework for detecting multiple fundus diseases harnessing ophthalmic foundation models.

Fundus diseases are leading causes of global vision impairment, often presenting with complex comorbidities that challenge conventional artificial intelligence models. While ophthalmic foundation models (FMs) offer promising capabilities, their clinical translation for multi-disease detection remains limited by issues such as imbalanced data distribution, uncertainty in multi-label predictions, inter-disease confusion, and domain shifts. Here, we introduce RetExpert, a test-time clinically adaptive framework that enhances FMs for robust and generalizable detection of multiple fundus diseases f

Development of a radiomics-vision transformer fusion model based on chest CT for predicting adverse respiratory events during recovery in elderly hip fracture patients under general anesthesia.

BACKGROUND: Hip fracture is a common and serious injury in the elderly. With the aging of the global population, the incidence of hip fracture is increasing. Adverse Respiratory Events (AREs) are common in elderly patients with hip fracture during recovery from general anesthesia, which can lead to serious complications. However, current methods for predicting these events are limited. METHODS: This retrospective multicohort study analyzed clinical data from 664 patients across two institutions. Radiomic features were extracted from regions of interest (ROIs) in chest CT scans, and deep learn

A multi-site laboratory evaluation of the MEDSCAN application for automated POC-CCA interpretation.

INTRODUCTION: Control efforts against schistosomiasis are hampered by the subjective interpretation of the point-of-care circulating cathodic antigen (POC-CCA) urine test, which limits diagnostic consistency. We developed MEDSCAN (Mobile-Enabled Diagnostics for Schistosomiasis Control Analytics), a mobile application that uses smartphone imaging and computer vision to automate POC-CCA interpretation. METHODS: In a multi-site laboratory evaluation across the USA, the Netherlands, and Kenya, we compared MEDSCAN to visual G-Score interpretation and a benchtop lateral flow reader (LFR). RESULTS:

Routine Fundoscopy Uncovering Wolfram Syndrome in a Diabetic Patient: A Case Report.

Wolfram syndrome is a rare inherited neurodegenerative disorder, in which early ophthalmologic abnormalities may provide the initial diagnostic clue. In this article, we report the case of a 20-year-old male with early-onset bilateral deafness and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus who was referred for evaluation of possible diabetic retinopathy. He reported no visual complaints at the time of presentation. Examination showed a visual acuity of 2/10 bilaterally, and optic disc pallor on fundoscopy without diabetic retinopathy. Further complementary testing revealed diffuse visual field defect

Visual field and driving performance of individuals with inherited retinal disorders: a scoping review.

OBJECTIVE: Maintaining a drivers' licence is an important patient-reported outcome. Conditions resulting in peripheral vision loss such as inherited retinal disorders (IRDs) can result in loss of licence due to an inadequate horizontal visual field (VF) extent. There are currently no international visual standards for licensing and current testing protocols outlined in licensing guidelines and conducted in out-patient clinics may not adequately reflect or predict on-road driving performance. The present study undertakes a scoping review of the VF of individuals with an IRD and their driving st

MonuSegFormer: A Hybrid Swin-Transformer Architecture for Semantic Segmentation of Moroccan Cultural Heritage Monuments.

Semantic segmentation of architectural elements in cultural heritage sites lies at the intersection of computer vision and digital preservation. Moroccan historical monuments spanning mosques, madrasas, royal gates (babs), and mausoleums across Fez, Rabat, Marrakech, Meknes, and Tetouan present unique challenges, including extreme texture ambiguity between weathered wall surfaces and background, pronounced multi-scale variation from individual window and door openings to full rooftop surfaces spanning tens of metres, and severe class imbalance. We introduce MonuSegFormer, a heritage-specific h
