This work reports the use of laparoscopic-transducer sonography for the examination of the urinary system in a swine model. Animals underwent a two-phase study. In the first phase, the urinary system was examined using laparoscopic sonography. In the second a partial ureteral obstruction was induced, and sonographic changes were recorded and evaluated. Hydatid cysts are often incidentally found and remain clinically silent. However complications can occur. We present 2 patients who developed biliary complications due to a large hydatid cyst. In the first patient compression on the intrahepatic bile ducts and cystic duct by the cyst, caused cholangitis and cholecystitis. Macroscopic nephropathy was observed in 506 pigs at slaughter in Bulgaria in 1993/94. Histopathological changes were mainly degenerative and proliferative, and were linked with kidney hypertrophy similar to that of the classical Danish Syndrome. Antibodies reactive with the core glycan of asialoganglioside (GA1), monosialoganglioside (GM1), and disialoganglioside (GD1a) were studied in human sera. Guinea pigs were infected intravaginally with the chlamydial agent of guinea pig inclusion conjunctivitis at varying times during the estrous cycle. In order to evaluate the systemic lesions during acute pancreatitis (AP) we produced the disease in rats by ligation of the common biliopancreatic duct. The animals were killed at 4, 24, 48 hours and at 7 days. We studied the conduction system of 65 cases of proven active or healed myocarditis and related diseases among 7120 autopsy samples. For this purpose, we prepared serial sections by Lev's method.
