OBJECTIVE: To understand the epidemiological and clinical profile of snakebite victims in a public teaching hospital.
METHOD: Exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach conducted in a public hospital in the Triângulo Sul region of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The data were collected from medical records and compulsory case report forms of patients admitted in the Emergency Service from June 2018 to May 2019. PURPOSE: The purpose of our study was to investigate the clinical outcomes of colonoscopic perforations in patients.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively studied patients with perforations secondary to diagnostic/therapeutic colonoscopy between 2009 and 2015 at the Pontevedra Hospital Complex. We analyzed age, closure method, length of hospitalization, and long-term progress.

BACKGROUND: The proper use of sedation and analgesia in the intensive care unit (ICU) minimizes its physical and psychological impact. Otherwise, patients can suffer from recall, nightmares, and depression after discharge. We investigated the sedatives, analgesics, and muscle relaxants used in the ICU.
METHODS: We visited 79 ICUs in 52 training hospitals and noted the use of sedatives, analgesics, and muscle relaxants from July, 2007, to December, 2007, using a 5-item questionnaire with 57 sub-questions. The survey evaluated the ICU system administration of analgesics and muscle relaxants.
