Endoscopic laser resection of hypopharyngeal diverticula has been used in the ENT Department, Odense, Denmark, since 1989. The outcome of treatment is reported in this presentation. Of the 61 patients, 32 (52%) were males. Age at operation was 72 years (median), range 37-94 years. The diagnosis in all patients was confirmed by barium radiography of the hypopharynx and the oesophagus. In recent years endoscopically controlled laser-induced thermal therapy (LITT) has been increasingly accepted as a minimally invasive method for palliation of advanced or recurrent head and neck or gastrointestinal cancer. OBJECTIVE: To describe short-term structural outcomes and associated ocular complications in premature infants treated with diode laser ablation for retinopathy of prematurity.
METHODS: The records of all infants who were diagnosed as having threshold retinopathy of prematurity and treated with diode laser therapy at our hospital from January 1, 1992, through December 31, 1996, were retrospectively reviewed. PURPOSE: To present our experience of slit-lamp laser photocoagulation with a pediatric quadraspheric contact lens for the treatment of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
MATERIAL AND METHODS: 8 eyes of 4 premature babies with threshold ROP were consecutively treated under general anesthesia by means of blue-green argon laser photocoagulation delivered through a table mounted slit-lamp and a wide field contact lens specially designed for infants. Three of the treated eyes had a zone I disease, 2 a posterior zone II disease and 3 a zone II disease. Mean follow-up was 13 months.

PURPOSE: Retinal photocoagulation can improve the visual prognosis of patients with diabetic maculopathy complicated with clinically significant macular oedema. BACKGROUND: Hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an autosomal dominant inherited condition that has cutaneous telangiectasia as a component of its manifestations. It has been found that the tunable dye laser is effective in the clearance of these lesions.
METHODS: Twelve patients with HHT between 1991 and 1999 were treated with the tunable dye laser. Treatment was carried out at 3-month intervals.

Turbinated bone's mucosa of 46 children aged 6 to 15 years was exposed to radiation of low-energy laser for neurovegetative vasomotor rhinitis. Repeated biomicroscopy stated that abnormal microcirculation recovered after 10 sessions of the radiation even in severe alterations of the microcirculatory bed and long history of the disease. The conclusion is made that low-energy laser radiation is effective in correction of microcirculatory disorders and tissue mechanisms of homeostasis in children with neurovegetative vasomotor rhinitis.
