In order to determine the status of Enterobius vermicularis infection among schoolchildren in suburban areas of Myanmar, 761 primary schoolchildren in 3 different townships around Yangon City were subjected to a survey using cello-tape anal swabs. OBJECTIVE: To present a case of osseointegrated hearing device placement in a child with conductive hearing loss related to manifestations of congenital lamellar ichthyosis.
PATIENT: A 5-year-old female patient with congenital lamellar ichthyosis resulting in conductive hearing loss because of bilateral external auditory canal stenosis and tympanic membrane blunting.
INTERVENTION: Unilateral osseointegrated hearing device placement using a traditional skin flap technique.

To evaluate the need for congenital rubella syndrome prevention in our national health programme we aimed to determine the rate of anti-rubella positivity in umbilical cord blood samples 8 years after measles-rubella mass vaccination in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Measles remains a leading vaccine-preventable cause of child mortality worldwide. The incidence has increased recently in some areas. The authors retrospectively analyzed the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 2473 measles patients in Shanghai from 2000 to 2009. Jaw movement patterns were examined longitudinally in a 3-year-old male with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and compared with a typically developing control group. OBJECTIVES: To demonstrate the use of the contact-diode laser (CDL) at 810 nm wavelength for the transnasal endoscopic repair of bilateral bony choanal (BBCA) in low-weight newborns.
METHODS: Prospective study at a tertiary-care pediatric institution of four neonates with BBCA aged 3-5 days, weighing on average 2.34 kg. BBCA was opened by transnasal delivery of CDL through a 600 microm diameter glass fiber. Children were stented post-operatively, and revision surgery performed when needed.
