In Amsterdam in 1987 an inventory was drawn up of factors that practitioners (n = 39) and volunteers (n = 22) associated with loneliness among the elderly. Three groups of non-institutionalized old elderly (80 years and older) served as respondents (total n = 100). In the present study, we investigated the association between Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) and the UPPS-P impulsivity facets in eating disorder patients and healthy controls. The prevalence of NSSI in eating disorder (ED) patients ranged from 17% in restrictive anorexia nervosa (AN-R) patients to 43% in patients with bulimia nervosa (BN). OBJECTIVE: The treatment of obesity is universally disappointing; although usually some weight loss is reported directly after treatment, eventual relapse to, or even above, former body weight is common. In this study it is tested whether the addition of cognitive therapy to a standard dietetic treatment for obesity might prevent relapse. It is argued that the addition of cognitive therapy might not only be effective in reducing weight and related concerns, depressed mood, and low self-esteem, but also has an enduring effect that lasts beyond the end of treatment.

OBJECTIVE: To test the hypothesis that Type-D personality is associated with elevated cortisol levels in patients 4 months after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
METHODS: Salivary cortisol profiles were measured at home in 70 coronary heart disease patients (Mean age = 60.90 years, SD = 10.7, 17% female) 4 months after hospitalization for ACS. Eight saliva samples were taken over the course of 1 day.
