Factors Associated with Extreme Waiting Times for Child Developmental Diagnostic Assessments: A Mixed-Methods Service Evaluation in Sydney.

Background: Previous Australian child developmental assessment service (CDAS) cohorts have identified a small proportion of children experiencing extreme waiting times (≥730 days) for standardised developmental assessments. However, factors associated with these extreme waits remain poorly understood. Aim: To examine factors associated with a priori defined extreme waiting times (≥730 days) by comparing affected children with the remaining CDAS cohort, while validating administrative data and exploring caregiver experiences. Methods: An embedded mixed-methods service evaluation was undertaken.

Robotics in Orthopaedics: Exploring Future Possibilities for South Africa.

This editorial examines the feasibility and ethical implications of integrating robotic-assisted orthopaedic surgery into South Africa's healthcare system. While such technologies are well-established in high-income settings, enhancing surgical precision, reproducibility and postoperative outcomes, their widespread adoption in resource-limited contexts poses considerable logistical, financial and ethical challenges. The South African health landscape, marked by stark disparities between public and private sectors, provides a unique setting in which to assess whether such innovations should be

Implementing a nurse-enabled, integrated, shared-care model involving specialists and general practitioners in early breast cancer post-treatment follow-up (EMINENT): a single-centre, open-label, phase 2, parallel-group, pilot, randomised, controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Current models of post-treatment cancer care rely heavily on hospital-based, medical specialists and do not sufficiently leverage primary care. Many breast cancer survivors face ongoing unmet needs that may benefit from a multidisciplinary, shared-care approach. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of implementing nurse-enabled, shared-follow-up care between the acute and primary care setting for early-stage breast cancer. METHODS: In this single-centre, open-label, phase II, pilot, randomised, controlled trial, individuals diagnosed with breast cance

The influence of the food environment on diet quality: Insights from an extensive household survey in Ethiopia, focusing on women of reproductive age.

BACKGROUND: Undernutrition is a significant challenge in Ethiopia, where limited dietary diversity and widespread micronutrient deficiencies affect millions, especially women of reproductive age. Although much research has explored dietary gaps and practices, the impact of the food environment (FE) on diet quality remains understudied. This study examines how FE factors influence dietary quality, using a food systems approach to inform sustainable nutrition policies. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey of 1,828 households was utilized to assess women's dietary quality using Poisson regression,
