Widespread rubella epidemics have sometimes occurred in Japan. We compared the prevalence of rubella antibodies in women who had conceived after infertility treatments and in those who had conceived spontaneously. We reviewed the obstetric records of nulliparous Japanese women who had conceived after infertility treatments and whose babies had been born at the Japanese Red Cross Katsushika Maternity Hospital from 2014 to 2018. Idiopathic hypoparathyroidism leads to hypocalcemia and hyperphosphatasemia and usually has a genetic aetiology. The variable but often subtle signs and symptoms usually lead to a misdiagnosis of hypoparathyroidism. This retrospective study determined the intestinal parasites discovered in 2490 new employees in a tertiary health care center in Makah as regards nationalities, age groups and sex over the period from January 2010 to January 2014 to decrease introduction of communicable diseases. In this study we describe the clinical features of scorpion bites in southern Iran. The records of scorpion bite victims from January 2000 to January 2009 were obtained from the record library of the Shiraz Nemazi Hospital, Shiraz, Iran. Data from 3278 patients from a prospective patient-centered total joint registry was used to investigate the rates of complications in the first 6 months following primary total knee arthroplasty. OBJECTIVES: Describe a series of atypical presentations of pandemic influenza A (H1N1) 2009.
METHODS: Description of case series using hospital records.
RESULTS: Six patients aged 1 to 65 years with confirmed pandemic influenza A (H1N1) 2009 infection presented with neurological complications within 2 to 5 days after the first signs of influenza-like illness. All six were admitted with seizures or altered mental status. No abnormalities were found in brain scans or cerebral spinal fluid studies of any of the six.
