After abdominal surgery there is a postoperative small bowel ileus. We evaluate whether the duration of the small bowel ileus is depending on the kind of surgery or not. Over a needle catheter jejunostomy a 3-tip transducer was placed into the distal jejunum. At the end of the operations a pressure detector was connected to measure the intraluminal pressure continuously over five days. Seven cases of Behçet's disease involving the intestines are reported. The terminal ileum and the ileocecal area was involved in all seven cases, with complications requiring surgical treatment. Delayed closure has been the traditional management of wounds in patients with traumatic colon injury, whereas small bowel injury has generally been treated with primary wound closure. The results of treatment of 51 children at the age over 1 year with intestinal invagination were analysed. Intestinal invagination in them is caused by the organic factors, the course is atypical, clinical signs--as in other acute abdominal diseases. For timely diagnosis of intestinal invagination, it is necessary to use the roentgenological, endoscopic methods of investigation and laparoscopy. Rational tactics permitted the authors to achieve the positive results of treatment in all the patients.

The article analyzes an experience with the treatment of 41 patients with traumas of the abdomen who were subjected to relaparotomy for acute mechanical intestinal obstruction. A comparative estimation of early diagnostic symptoms allowing determination of indications for relaparotomy in postoperative acute mechanical intestinal obstruction was made. Medical errors responsible for relaparotomies and causes of death after it are analyzed.
