STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: Cricothyroid muscle unilateral action was simulated on excised larynges on an experimental bench. Increasing airflow rates were applied to achieve vocal fold vibration. This prospective study investigated the clinical significance of cell kinetics, measured using bromodeoxyuridine injection and flow cytometry, in primary and metastatic cutaneous malignant melanoma. We describe a direct method for determining four sulfates and seven glucuronides of 17-oxosteroids (17OS) in urine without hydrolysis, by use of "high-performance" liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorometric detection. Transient aplastic crisis in children with congenital hemolytic anemias has been linked epidemiologically to infection with a serum parvovirus-like virus (SPLV). The virus is found in the blood in the early stages of the crisis, and serum containing SPLV inhibits erythroid colony formation in vitro.
