Dermatoglyphic features, qualitative as well as quantitative, of finger and palm prints of 50 male I. C. D.-9 diagnosed catatonic schizophrenics and as many ethnically matched normal controls of the same sex were examined. IgG subclass reactivities of patients suffering from farmer's lung, healthy family members and blood donors were tested for specific binding to Micropolyspora faeni extract by means of immunoblot techniques (IEF-Print, Western Blot). In patients' sera IgG1 and IgG2 had shown the strongest reactivities while IgG3- and IgG4-reactivities were not found in all cases. Strong IgG2-reactivities against acidic proteins (pl 3-5) of M. faeni seem to distinguish between patients and exposed or not exposed controls, respectively.

The center of pressure paths of foot-floor contact were examined in detail in normal subjects and a group of 44 patients with treated clubfeet. The foot-floor contact areas were wide and the center of pressure paths more variable in clubfeet patients. The center of pressure paths did not always distinguish between normal and abnormal subjects nor between abnormal subjects with varying functional ratings. Foot prints are not sensitive enough to be a diagnostic aid and are of only limited application to the problem of evaluation of treatment of clubfoot deformity.

A patient sustained mild bilateral alkali burns of the cornea following ocular exposure to a commercial hair straightening preparation. This compound and three other products all had an alkaline pH which was not reduced to neutrality by the neutralizer provided. Corneal alkali burns similar to those seen in our patient were produced in experimental animals after brief exposure. Histologic changes were primarily limited to the cornea. The warning against ocular exposure printed on the containers or package insert is not sufficiently emphatic to protect the consumer.

More has been written about Mozart's illnesses and death than for any other composer. An exploration of PAMA's Bibliography of Performing Arts Medicine provides the data for this review. The bibliography contained 136 entries that pertained to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Of these, 81 were available to the author, either in printed or electronic copy. In order to provide a clearer historical perspective on this topic, this review assembles information pertaining to illnesses and other medical problems that occurred during Mozart's life as well as those purportedly contributing to his death.

This case study describes initially unsuccessful attempts to use the delayed-cue procedure to teach conditional discriminations to an individual with moderate mental retardation. The task was matching printed-word comparison stimuli to dictated-name sample stimuli. In three experiments, the subject typically waited for the delayed cue unless differential responses to the dictated samples (repeating the sample names) were required. Hence, the study provides an example of a way to make the delayed-cue method more effective. The stimulus control bases for the results are discussed.

The dermatoglyphic hand prints from 19 patients with different types of syndactyly were analysed. It was shown that some digital triradii and palmar lines were missing and replaced by only one triradius with common radiants and one main palmar line in patients with syndactyly. With fingers fused incompletely so called zygodactylous triradius and the main Z line may appear, instead of or alongside with them. It is proposed that the position of local cell death in the interdigital spaces is determined by positional information which is expressed in the system of polar coordinates.
