Feasibility, acceptability, and usability of a patient decision aid for participation in the DAHANCA 35 proton radiotherapy trial: A qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Clinical trial participation in oncology remains low, despite its importance for advancing treatment. Patients are often asked to consider trial participation in emotionally and cognitively demanding situations, which may limit their ability to engage with complex information and relate decisions to their values and life context. Patient decision aids (PtDAs) may support informed, value-based decision-making, but their feasibility in clinical trial settings warrants further exploration. OBJECTIVE: To qualitatively assess the feasibility of integrating a clinical trial PtDA into ro

Factors Associated with Treatment Burden in Older Adults with Multimorbidity and Implications for Potential Reduction Strategies: A Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Treatment Burden (TB) refers to the workload imposed on patients by healthcare-related tasks involved in the management of chronic conditions. Despite increasing evidence on this phenomenon, strategies for its reduction in older adults with multimorbidity remain poorly explored. AIM: To map the factors associated with treatment burden reported for older patients with multimorbidity and to derive implications for potential reduction strategies, regardless of the care setting. METHODS: A scoping review was conducted applying the JBI methodology for scoping reviews and reported in a

Euglycemic Diabetic Ketoacidosis and Its Prevention in Elective Surgical Patients Taking Sodium-Glucose Linked Transporter 2 Inhibitors: An International Perspective.

BACKGROUND: Sodium-glucose linked transporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors are becoming ubiquitous in medical practice. While beneficial in many areas, they have been implicated in a number of cases of euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious and potentially fatal complication, in surgical patients. Therefore, it is important for health professionals to have clear guidelines on how to avoid this. The purpose of this study was to collate and evaluate the available guidelines for the perioperative management of patients taking SGLT-2 inhibitors and to outline the pathophysiology of EDKA in surgical

Communication of the diagnosis to Klinefelter subjects: an observational study on a key moment of the patient's life.

PURPOSE: Klinefelter syndrome (KS) is the most prevalent sex chromosome disorder among males. The communication of the KS diagnosis holds significant implications for the diagnosis's acceptance. Recently, the increased use of prenatal diagnostic procedures has raised the question of whether, when, and by whom information, once provided to parents, should be communicated to their children/adolescents. Currently, there is limited information on this topic. This study aims to investigate the most suitable timing, content, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) according to KS patients' suggestions f
