BACKGROUND: Actinic keratosis (AK) is one of the most common conditions treated by dermatologists in western countries. Studies have shown that AK prevalence in Europe, the U.S.A. and Australia is 4·5-60%. No data of AK prevalence in China has been reported.

This longitudinal study used piece-wise growth curve analyses to examine growth patterns in oral reading fluency for 1,991 students with speech impairments (SI) or language impairments (LI) from first through third grade. To describe the values of serum magnesium and to determine the frequency of low levels of serum magnesium in a Cameroonian hospital, a retrospective study of 1088 results of serum magnesium was carried out in the University Teaching Hospital of Yaoundé (Cameroon). Among the 1088 values, 1025 were normal (94, 20 %). The prevalence of low level of serum magnesium was 4,13%. The mean of the serum magnesium was 0, 81 +/- 0,10 mmol/L. The median was 0,81 mmol/L. Adolescents with word-reading skills below grade level were randomly assigned to one of three conditions. Cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for social phobia is an effective treatment for many patients, but some patients do not benefit from the treatments and many remain symptomatic. Therefore, researchers have been examining techniques that may improve treatment outcome. In this paper, recent psychopathology and treatment outcome research, much of which supports the expectation that a second-generation CBT treatment may further improve outcome, are discussed. The effects of two types of phonological training in children with reading disabilities (RD) were examined. One of the programs (SP/LPA) trained children in speech discrimination, letter-sound correspondence, and phonemic awareness. Eleven schools in the south of England took part in a trial of 'Safe in the Sun', a curriculum programme for primary school aged pupils. A simple method for inflicting corneal foreign body injuries on bovine eyes is described and illustrated. The subsequent use of these eyes for teaching corneal and rust-ring removal is demonstrated.
