PURPOSE: To analyze postoperative instructions provided to patients and families after strabismus surgery.
METHODS: In April 2012, a 12-question electronic survey was sent to all members of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS) regarding their instructions to patients undergoing strabismus surgery. The questions specifically addressed patients’ daily activities, such as their resumption of school and work, sports, swimming, normal showering and bathing, and contact lens use.

PURPOSE: Despite rigorous data from adult literature demonstrating that oral antibiotics (OA) reduce infectious complications and mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) alone does not, MBP alone remains the preferred approach among pediatric surgeons. INTRODUCTION: While the benefits of regional analgesia (RA) for preoperative pain relief in hip fracture (HF) in elderly patients are well recognised, this service is yet to be established in many UK emergency departments (EDs). We set out to discover how widely RA is adopted in the UK EDs.
